hey everyone im putting a 48 flathead in a model A with a t-5 from an early ninteys s-10. wondering from everyones experience what would be the best bellhousing adapter kit. i have been searching around alot and have heard good and bad about the cornhusker kits along with the offy and speedway setups that speedway sells. i think that the chevy clutch, arm and bearing choice would be the way to go as apposed to the early ford setup, ....maybe. Any advice? thanks

I have used speedways and cornhuskers adapters and if I do another one I will pay the extra money for cornhuskers adapter. Less grinding to actually make it bolt onto the engine and grinding inside so the stock flywheel doesn't rub the adapter. My cornhusker adapter went in on the first try.

I think there's a guy in GIBBON Nebraska that makes a nice adapter for a flatty. :D

Yep, Dwight Bond of Gibbon Fiberglass body fame. Makes a adaptor plate to be used with a 4 sp. truck hog's head bell housing mated to a regular 10" bolt flathead bell.

He also makes it so you can hand model A pedals from a rod that threads into the side.

I'll look up his contact info. 1st class guy.

  5. Cornhuskers Rod & Custom is owened by Gary Mussman. Gary is a HAMB member and Cornhuskers is a HAMB Alliance vendor. Gary's HAMB handle is krylon32.

I have no personal experience with his T5 to flathead adapter. But a friend has had no problems with his and has put many thousands of happy miles on his 32 roadster.

Support HAMB Alliance vendors when you can!

I used a Cornhusker Kit and it couldn't have gone together any easier. First try.
    Very pleased.

  9. I have not used Cornhuskers kit so I can't comment there. For my 40 Ford I used Speedway's adapter with stock 40 pedal setup and all - went in pretty smooth, been working pretty good for 6 years now. My only change/modification is the pilot bearing adapter for the end of the T5. I placed that in the pilot bearing itself vs on the end of the T5 tranny. This way if I have to change out a tranny (which I have already done once), I have no worries there. I'm using a French block with the cast-in bellhousing so it's the same/similar as yours.

In my 32 w/59 stock 40 engine I'm using a 39 pedal setup, same adapter, same mod. I did have to trim off about 1/4 inch or so off the end of the T5 shaft so it would not bottom out onto the flattie. It's not on the road yet so I can't say how it's working.

My 1931 roadster has a 1950 mercury flathead with a cornhuskers t5 setup. I used a master cylinder and slave cylinder from speedway to make it a hydraulic clutch and it works great.
