I've got this sedan, it runs and moves around the yard. It's the early 28 with the left hand e-brake and such. Is it desirable to restorers? I really want a coupe. Just need a body and hate to ****ter a complete car.
Hot Rod the **** out of it. or roll it up in my drive way so I can.. < ---thats an AR body http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=290
If I was really bored and had 4 Model A hotrods already I would..................naw **** it. Build a nice hotrod.
or...build a kick *** ch***is, and throw the tudor body on there until you snag your coupe body.. the ch***is will fit both if you keep that in mind, when building than put the Tudor body back on its original ch***is and build another one Lather Rinse repeat
If you decide to rod it save all of the stock little pieces & parts. the AR's have a bunch of different little AR specific parts that the restorers will buy from you. that is if they don't lynch you for hot rodding an AR lol. If you really want a coupe someone would likely trade you a later coupe to "save" an AR from one of us hot rodders so you don't "ruin" it. Check out ford barn, maybe even post an ad to see if there is any interest. The AR's are worth $$ to the restorers any if yours runs & drives it must be pretty complete. An AR is just a donor body to us but is like gold to the restorer crowd.

This AR may be your ticket to get a good solid coupe body without buying another car.See if you can swap it with a restorer.
Trade it for a coupe. I come from a family of restorers. You need to build a ch***is for your rod anyway. Some one should have a rodworthy coupe body they would trade.
Produced by the Ford Motor Company, Detroit, Michigan. The 1928 Model A was an entirely new vehicle. Largely the design and execution of founder Henry Ford's son Edsel. The Model A front appearance was very reminiscent of it's big brother Lincoln. AR models are the very first Model A's produced. They do not have some of the running changes (improvements) of the regular production vehicles for which production began in earnest after Christmas 1927. AR models are the rarest of all Model A Fords.
Trade the AR for a coupe roller, don't rod it. It has all the stuff restorer wants and isn't what you want, why cut it up?
Since you are aware of what it is - and it is rare - trade it or sell it. It's one thing to work with what you have at the time, and another to purposely hack it up "just because". It's not even what you want by your own statements. My 2 cents. Good Luck!
I like the idea of building a HOT ch***is and cleaning up / painting the body and putting it on there. Pull the body off, put a Merc flatty between the rails, juice brakes, etc. That body looks like it's in GREAT shape.
Attached a few detail pictures. I've heard the fenders or splash aprons are different, but not sure. Thanks for all the advice !
I just chopped a coupe that good or better. Go banger powered chopped sedan with wire wheels. You owe me a beer now.
TRADE IT! Your never gunna be happy till ya end up with what ya want!!! ....I'm still searching...and searching...and....
yep, thats the same as on my body and i would have to agree with the other guys saying if its not what you want trade or swap to get what you want and give a restor guy what he wants. They are rare. and technically a one off in the end of 1927, before production went in at 1928, so there were not many of them built, it would be nice to see it put back the way it was , if not just for the nastagia of it My AR body was already messed with. not original running gear, not original fuel tank,, and didnt have any of the left hand brake parts on it when i got it, so for the most part my AR is just the body, and thats it. maybe someday that fact might make it worth more? i hope so
I cut the **** outta my AR , and I feel great about it Rare? Whatever. Cut it anyway. I didn't think I wanted a sedan either, but I'm gunna love havin room for me, her, and a cooler of beer.
