For those who may not "see it". The Capital Records building is a "stack" of records, and the top is a "stylus". I thought I should clarify that for the younger dudes who may not be familiar with vinyl, and how we used to stack 45's on a phonograph to play in succession...

I know specialed just posted this building, but it's in this series of shots, so here goes:

We all know about The Amb***ador Hotel, well all of us of boomer age or older at any rate. Damn shame it was imploded, much history. It'll forever be linked with RFK, but how about this:


The Amb***ador Hotel where sequestere<WBR>d jury members have lived for the past 7 months during the trial of cult leader Charles Manson and members of his Manson Family who are charged with the murders of actress Sharon Tate and others. 1971

 

Yup, just weeks before RFK was killed, my date and I went after the senior prom there to see the "Righteous Brothers" at tne "Coconut Grove", the hotel's nightclub...

 

1953 and Cole Bros. Circus comes to town. LAPD ******s the Elephants on their trikes (Servicars). These were 45 C.E and gutless, adapt a 74 frame and engine presto POWER.

 

there's a hill like that in downtown L.A.? That must have been near Bunker Hill before it got leveled...literally

 

Clyde Wallich owned Music City on Vine and Sunset, him and his brother opened it in 1940. Glenn the brother went on to found Capitol Records with offices on Sunset, later building the Capitol Building on Vine. They started their road to success putting radios in cars in the 30's. Glenn drove a Ferrari, a very nice man.
