While visiting a model railroad club in Pasadena, CA, on Saturday March 20 HAMBsterLady and her husband were at the welcome table but I didn't know their connection to the H.A.M.B. at that time. While I was hanging around waiting for the mens' room to become available she mentioned that this year she might both drive a dragster to over 100 mph and drive a float in the Rose Parade. That is too cool. So, I asked her what kind of car it was and she said it was a nostalgia car and that she and her husband were part of H.A.M.B. Other than at a Pete Millar tribute, I'd never come across another HAMBer. Just goes to show you that no matter where you are or what you're doing, you just might bump into a HAMBer. Has anybody else run into a HAMBer you didn't know at a non-car activity?
I'm yet to meet a HAMBer while wearing a HAMB shirt, although have met other rodders out of the blue, in the most random places (outside the chemist, in a bakery ect..).
Great minds, etc, etc..... By the way, hope you enjoyed the layouts. We have been building there for 25 years. Looking forward to the ANRA opener and getting back in touch with all the friends we have made there. We "talk" HAMBster whenever we can, never know when you will pique someone's interest. If you come up to the drags, ANRA or Dragfest, be sure to look us up.
