Bucksnort, This is great magazine, that gives us East Coast guys a look into the past. Please start a new thread strickley for Eastern Drag News. I have a few and could contribute some scans. I will have to look up an old E mail I got from Jack Redd... He gave me the history of the magazine/newspaper. It had several name changes...Starting as, Virgina Drag News, then Mid eastern DN,then Eastern Drag News, and finally Drag Times. They also started Super Stock Magazine in 1964

I did scan the pages of the changes the paper went through.Like Monk Reynolds announcing his start of SSDI and of course Jack Redd-JA Approved.
So,what do you all think?Start a new thread or keep it in this great thread. It's all about the drag cars and drag stars.I got no problem keeping it here or maybe it does belong on it's own.6 of 1 or half dozen of the other.
    I just dig this shit.

I agree its 6 of 1 and half dozen of the other but Please post the non-stocker cars as well. If they want this thread to stay with the stockers then maybe start a new thread. Doesn't matter to me as long as the rails, gassers, altereds etc. get posted too!

    Thanks for the pictures!!

Oh there are plenty of those. This is the cover of the earliest one I scanned. That was just 1 page of a real big stack.Figured I gotta post the covers. This was not a stocker paper they covered it all.Gotta remember, early to mid 60's were huge for the factory wars so there was a lot of coverage of them.

Well after I don't know how many hours, I finally made it to the end to this incredible thread! So many cool pics! Lots of great photography!

I was kind of hoping that I might find some more pics and/or information regarding the subject of this wall 21"X30" hanging I've had since the 70's.

So far the only info I've ever found about the car was from the Drag List which states it was a 1968 Don Long car that was owned by Doug Walton and (by the #86) was driven by Vern Anderson. And ran a best of 7.74 @204.54

Anybody know anything else about Walton & Allen from St. Paul?

I'm eagerly awaiting more from your collection of EDN issues. I'd say start a new thread dedicated to MEDN and it's variations/incarnations. I think it'd be a better, more condensed historical record, a polace to go for research and more specific information. You'd do a great service to tthose of us interested in a source for study.
Thanks for posting them ... and keep them large and readable.

Bucksnort, I like the idea of a seperate thread,if you are going to print individual pages. Since Drag Cars in Motion is mainly a picture thread , we would lose a lot of the good articles that are in EDN.

Bucksnort, I also think a seperate thread showing page after page of the Drag News books would be great for all the drag race gearheads on the HAMB. The era of the early 60's was a time that will live in our minds forever. I know it was a great time for me being a teenager who loved cars.

A seperate thread showing Drag News could be a dedication to the early 60's on the east coast. And you're the man armed with the ammunition to do it.

I know,Rick.Me and my big mouth.Hope I can get the scans to show big.Have no idea how that first one worked.
Think I will start a new thread.Gonna start scanning and resizing(I hope).

Gotta clarify. The Drag News are not mine,Don from Ol 55 was nice enough to loan them to Rick and me.

I do have some from later 60's if I can find them but that's a longshot.

Oh No by all means start another thread, that way everyone that is not familiar with this site cant ever find it. There is no since keeping this thread alive and kickin. Come on everyone its cars, they are all connected whether they are moving, sitting, stockers, gassers, dragsters, funnys, 3 wheels, 4 wheels, in a ditch, in an alley, or whatever. There is no sence in complicating the issue, they are cars, post them here so we all can see them in one convenient location. Pretty Please With Sugar On Top lets all just look at all the cars in peace and harmony.

  14. .......that picture and smile on that face says it all......."one fun ride". Great picture.

Peace IS alive and well ... it seems to me like everyone is getting along here. The idea of a seperate thread is so that a given subject is in one place and easier to find. If one wants to research the EDN realm all they have to do it bookmark the thread and there it is. Much easier than searching through a general thread looking for a certain thing. No one is knocking anything. On the JJ-H.A.M.B. there are many subject specific drag racing threads ... and that is a good thing, not a bad thing. The threads for (to name a few) ...S/S-F/X 1962-66, Jr. Stockers, Ford Thunderbolts, Comets, Altered Wheelbase cars, Ramchargers, etc. all make it easier to research/study and enjoy a certain topic if that is what one wishes rather than searching for them. It takes nothing away from this great thread. My two cents ... but that's all it is ...

I just started a new thread.."Eastern Drag News..one of the best drag rags".I am a slow learner but I got a few pages up there from the first issue in Dons collection.Tons more to follow. My first thought was to post them here cause it is the best thread on the web.But it would probably be simpler to be on it's own.Gotta work on my cropping so I can post some of the action shots on here.
    Thanks guys,hope you enjoy.
