Here are a few of my Gal. Driven every day!!!!!!! Not very HAMB friendly but its mine and I drive it!! ETHER
Here's one we did the motor for. It belongs to a friend of ours. Rust free super clean car and a 63-1/2 R code to boot. You wanna go pick on some 409's, this is the car to do it in.....its a blast. Unfortunately he's gotta let it go. If you've got deep pockets and want one of the nicest Galaxies in the US, here's your shot. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...012QQitemZ220257874782QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW -Bigchief.
befor I bought the Merc truck, I had been wanting to build something like this. I really love this Galaxie, but I might have done a laced roof, chrome reverse, and I don't dig the caddy tailights at all. When I see those tailights now, I think back to my Grandma tellin me, "Rough Stock, there's just no sense kickin' a deadhorse." Other than that, I dig the subtle, mild custom...
here's another (maybe: i'm not a nascar historian) i'd like to see some altered wheel base ones, if anybody has some pics.
Not all galaxies were Nascar or Drag cars, there was few running in the circuits in Europe and down under. Len Lukeys Galaxie in 1964 being Driven By Norm Beechey .Australia. Same car in 1963 are a racing incedent. And yes they did race with full interior and no roll cage. the car was also street legal!. Sir Gawaine Bailly's Factory FE Galaxie engine in 1965 in Australia. And a more modern shot from 2005 at Goodwood UK. http://www.galaxie.com.au/racing.html
Lots of cool Galaxies!!! Keep them coming people! Might as well post some pics of my 64 I've had for 25 years now. Dad gave me the Cragar wheel/tire combo last year from one of his projects so I had to see what they look like. Probably the only mag wheel I'd even consider for this car too. I also own the black 62 Merc 4-dr that somebody posted earlier in this thread.
Got a call just before x-mas from a good friend, says he found my dream car. Turns out this Starliner had been sittin in downtown Vancouver in a heated garage since '84. I'm the 2nd owner. Plans are to lower it, twice pipes and drive it. I'll collect some bits and do a number on it in a few years... I've had a few Galaxies over the years and even demo derbyed a few too -Shiny
I bought my Galaxie from the original owners daughter back a few months ago. The car is in excellent condition and I have only had do some minor things to it to get it back on the road. Thi photo is from the day I brought it home....Drove it on the trailer....390 with a 3sp on the column....NO power options
Here's Mine. 1968 Galaxie XL w/ 390 4 bbl and dual exhaust. It's far from perfect...but it sure is fun for a Sunday drive with my wife!
I had a chance to buy this one a couple of years ago and passed.................I have kicked myself every day since then.
I don't know if mine's done right, she's pretty much the way I bought her. I've just upgraded from the factory 352 2bbl and rebuilt it as a 390 a year ago, it's now got a new 4bbl and Victor Jr. manifold. The stereo opening has been filled and custom speaker mounts were added just to get some rolling tunes. Thinking about painting the roof an offsetting color, gonna drop the points and get a pertronix kit in the distributor, new shocks, springs, etc. and that should finish out 2010 nicely.
I Like your color combination! I am going to be painting my 64 Falcon convertible in the next few months. What is the name of the color and manufacturer of the green on the body?
