Well they're not in motion, but it's worth a chuckle to look at this pic of Don "Snake" Prudhomme and Roland "Hawaiian" Leong surveying the track at Amarillo Dragway in May of '72. Track personnel on the starting line wore those black "Hoss Cartwright" hats back in the day.

  22. I never cease to being amazed at what pops up here. I guess there is a point to saving stuff forever. This thread has made me so thankful to have been a racer when I was.

A friend of mine found this nhra record holding 56 chev at Carlisle in the swap meet area. The car was sitting untouched for YEARS.
He took it to the previovs owner to check out. Everything was there from the 60s -70s but the original engine.

  24. How cool to see "The Boss" Stude. Just last night, I was looking at the Jan. '67 2-page spread in Hot Rod magazine on this car -- which was jet-black lacquer at the time. Always thought it was an extremely clean looking gasser. Great to see the action shot!

  25. Also vividly remember the Don's Speed Shop Ford powered A/A at the second Spring Nationals at Bristol. With the bell-tipped exhaust it had an incredibly distinctive, cool sound. Thanks for posting.

  26. Hell, no!!! In fact, I'd like nothing more if Plum could share some of his incredible shots! Dog has posted a lot of them already, but there are a lot that we haven't seen here as yet, including (I think):

    OK GUYS:

Heres the real story why I don't post to much anymore. I'm 66 years old & my health isn't that good but I'm doing pretty well now. # 2, I get so sick of hearing people bitching about posting photos (thats my photo & you stole it, No he stole it from me and this & that, I'm going to sue you) I don't need all the bullshit.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the photographers are wrong. They have a gripe but if they posted it & don't put their name on it whos to know where it came from.

I never sold anybodys photos that I know of. I bought out Gold Dust Clsassics out years ago and Skip Norman said he own the rights & was selling me the rights. Come to find out he didn't own any rights. What a nigthmare.

I sold photos not to make a profit but to help pay for expenses & give many dragstrips & racers photos to be able to get on the starting line & get into the tracks free. I also get a kick out of the old time racers getting photos of their old cars from me & seeing their gleem in there eyes.

I only sold the photos for $10.00 each or 5 for $45.00 which I'm sure theres are a few out there whos has bought from me. No proft there.

I close DRM about a year now as I pretty much know all the track owners & they know me so I don't have to much trouble getting into the tracks.

About L & M Photos, I knew Max Maxwell way before I move to CA. for a few years. When I move out there I work (at times) I helped Max & he sold some of my photos under his company name. I never got paid but our deal was instead of money he would give me any photo he took or was going to take. I have over 2,000 photos from Max. They are T/F, F/C, Fuel Altereds, Pro Stocks, & Gassers.

I consider Max a good friend. Before I move to CA. he use to pick me up at the LAX airport & when he came back east I'ld pick him up & the airport and take him to his motel. This was at N.J. & PA. The good thing about our friendship was we worked togather. RIP MAX.

I also have thousands of photos I took and stuff I collected over the years from magazines, photographers, & etcs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not diying but as I mention I feel pretty good now but I'm not getting any younger & the way a lot of friends have been passing away its kinds of scares me. We lost to many people. I like to share what I got before its to late. I enjoy that.

Thats about it. I'll let this ride for about a week to see what kind of replys I get. If its nah, I won't post & if its yea I'll post and belive me you will be on one hell of a ride.

I've been going to the races since 1959 and I collected a lot of stuff. I enjoyed everyday of it & I wouldn't change any of it.

Heres one of my stories, I flew out to CA. for one of their MFG. MEETS and I got off of work Friday & Monday so no problem. As it turned out One weekend it rain out the next weekend it got foged out & they ran it Sunday. Got back to MD. early Monday morning & got fired. I had so much fun out there that I forgot to call them & let them know what happen. The only thing I could think of was to tell them I didn't say what Monday I was comming back. For some reason they didn't think it was funny. This was in 68 or 69 and I got another job the same day. Back in those days you could get jobs. True story. Goodbuy Kelly Pontiac & hello Belair Road Chevy.

Sorry for the spelling & story as I'm no writer or that good of a speller.

Heres a little more for you. Hope you like them.

    Plum
