Projects My 1951 Mercury Restoration

Plan is final paint this upcoming weekend. #1 color choice is Ford Lyons Blue, but we might check out that mid 50's Mercedes color that someone suggested.

I'm looking for the curved ends of a 1951 Ford Grille if anyone has those.

I saw those ends reproduction about a year ago, but I'll be dipped if I can find them at the moment or remember who had them. They came with the parking light assembly and were not cheap....several hundred each. Since most all the originals I have been finding seem to be rusted through, might not be bad money in the end. I'll keep looking and see if I can come across who was selling them in the next few days.

 

Hmm I'd prefer originals since they'll end up gettin' worked on to make them fit.... Thanks for keeping an eye out.

"Paint on saturday. Nose is back in primer. Still have a few little issues that I want to address aside from what u and i pointed out. won't be a prob by saturday."

 

I stopped by the car for a few hours. We mixed up our the paint we planned to do. Liked it but, decided to play with the recipe... To get it darker. Made one substitution. Should look nice.

I won't post again in this thread until I have pics of the car in the new hue. Supposed to be painted tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not planned for it to have purple hues, but would be happy either way. I'll have to see when I stop by the car this week. I think though it will look more like that super dark blue of this fight plane that Django posted at one point on another board.

I greatly admire you guys, so getting some props from y'all is pretty awesome, thanks again. This frog turned prince should be done in couple of weeks, since the glass has to go back in, seats, bumpers, and new wiring... If I can swing some wide whites I'll do them but I might have to hold off.
