This building is currently being utilized as a sound stage for many Hollywood production companies. It once held the "world's fastest production line" ***embling aircraft during WWII. It is enormous!
Aircraft above are Vultee Vengeance light* bombers, most of which were sent to the British. A contemporary to the Grumman TBF/TBM Avenger. *Light, as in not medium or heavy.
Does anybody know exactly where this rock is located? I'd love to cruise by and see whats there now. Is it in Eagle Rock?
no....not Eagle Rock I know there a mountain-side by Bonneville with something similar, but I don't know if this that one.
I thought I read that this was on old Sepulveda Bl. where it went through the hills from the valley to L.A. and that this was all destroyed by the construction of the freeway in the late '50s. I think that's where this was. Oh, and I just remembered that I read that in TRJ a few years ago in the story about the Joe Burnett guy with the gold '40 pickup, T Touring, etc., etc. There was a photo of his '40 pickup parked here on the way back from Winfield's shop in Modesto.

Lana Turner used to throw Silver dollars from the balcony at my Grandmothers place on Lido Isle in the early 50's to me and my Cousins. She rented the upstairs. She was with a producer named Bob Topping I think. Long time ago.

That Studebaker Coupe every one was asking about is a Stude. DICTATOR Coupe. They had to drop the name because Dictators were not to popular in the late 30's. i will be back.

Paramount Ranch is out in Calabasas, just inland from Malibu.It was a movie ranch since the late '30s. In the mid '50s a group built a road race course there. Only three races were run until the track was shut down after two fatal accidents. In the '70s and '80s they used to have the Renaissance Pleasure Faire there, where I actually got to ride an elephant. It's now a National Park with a western town movie set where they filmed Dr. Quinn. About 80% of the paved race track survives. Kurt O.
