That is Haight Street in San Francisco, as in Haight-Ashbury. Ashbury Street would be immediately behind the photographer. Golden Gate Park can be seen in the distance, looking west, and the old Haight Theater is down the street on the right.

Would love some insight into the meaning of this one, same 60-yr time span, same 3 horizontal painted lines, re-painted since '48:

Who's the fat chick with the small boobs?
    :D

  24. Betty Grable, one of the most popular pinups of WWII. Rumor was that she was pregs (tummy just starting to show) when this shot was taken, hence the hiney shot. Great legs, great photo!

I wonder what the framework with the hole in it was for sitting by the trash can. Bubble top maybe?

That is exactly what it is for, a sheet of poly was placed in the area you see and a sandwhich ring was thru bolted to a solid sheet of ply below,
there was a pipe plumbed to it and as the poly got soft from the pizza oven, air was introduced to balloon it into shape, or so my dad told me.
i think the pizza oven part was for embellishment..

After a little exploring around Google Earth, I was able to set-up this "today" update view of the SF Haight-Ashbury scene of post #3215.
I think it is one of the few that doesn't look worse today, as opposed to those Atlanta shots, etc. There's life in the street still.
