Here is a little rod that I am building for myself.

Shorty is a .50 roller. I am just waiting on perches. You must remember this is still a mockup so no gusseting has been completed on the rear yet. I plan on sculpting the rear rails as well as gusseting them.. I hope you guys like..

  2. Nice rollbar/springmount

Need to mount some KC Highliters on it when you chop the top, about 10 of them, 2 pointing to the outside and 2 to the rear so you can back up REALLY fast at night.

cool. I personally would run fenders. But It's not my truck and you are the only person that has to like it.

I think getting the grill right is the key to success on this one. good luck.

    Thanks

I was thinking the same thing about the grill. It is actually there to hold up the hood while I thought about the whole project. I think working the front end will be probably the hardest part too..

Looks cool, can't wait to see it finished. And please for the people's eyes, don't build a rat. The rattieness makes my eyes nearly fall out of my head, don't know about anyone else.

I wasn't trying to bag on him man. We all know what he is building and yes fenderless trucks aren't very popular here. I'm not big fan of them. But I can appreciate the work, effort, time, love, money, whatever put into it. As long as it is something the OWNER LOVES. no one else has to. I work on a lot of older cars I don't particularly care for, but the owner loves them and that gets me excited about working on there project for them. Not to mention the money;). Looking back at the last 5 years I've spent searching for an A I could afford. I wish I had at least built something cheap. Even if it was a rudy truck, four door or what ever. Atleast I would have acquired some much needed skills for my A.

FAB32 I don't mean any disrespect. Not all of us are as lucky as you to have lived back then.(not saying your old;)) and bought so many cool cars. I'm honestly a little jealous of you and my dads generation.

Please don't ban me for admitting this.

RAT RODS AND THERE PUBLICATIONS ARE WHAT GOT ME OFF OF 4X4'S AND MUSCLE CARS ABD INTO PRE WAR TIN:eek:

    There i said it.

Luckily, I discovered the difference pretty early on between a real Rat Rod(spider webs etc) and an old Hot Rod that's a little worn.(patina)

Also luckily I discovered I want a really period car.....

The best we can hope to do is steer him in the right direction.

to the OP good luck with the build.

Thanks! I really didn't have any intentions of doing a rat, the body has too good of metal to let it go to waste. I just want something different that I can afford. The last frame I built like this I traded for two truck cabs and a model A fibergl*** body so I can't be too far off from what "some" may like...

I don't plan on making a rod with a $10000 paint job. If you want to drop me an email with a picture of yours I may trade you if it is in decent shape. I don't have the heart to cut this one up. I was going to find another one before I started on the grill...

I really have no idea about the rear. I know it is going to be short. I had plans using a shortened bed on it and a wooden floor, but I am starting to like the rear enough that I want to run it without a bed. As for the motor I have the choice of 235/3 spd or any number of BBC and SBC I have laying around. I personally want to run a 400/400 that I have that was freshened up a while back. It would have more power than traction, but fun..

  24. My truck is super clean and the grill I have has some surface rust between the bars and its not perfect but pretty nice looking. I would like to find another that I can have redone.

I like it, keep up the progress and the pics.

It doesn't matter what it is, as long as what it is matters.

    Right on..

Here is a picture I just took with the cab on it. I need to get rid of the nasty yellow wheels. That will come later.

Yes, I plan on driving it as much as possible. I want it pretty low, but I also wanted some cushion between the cab and frame. I do plan on putting about a 1" cushion between the cab and frame. I also need to build in the cab brackets. I am waiting to set the cab height after I get all the weight on it.
