Baddest hot rods ever! And most had really cool names too. Real names, not corporations...what a concept. :D

    Plum,

I recommend that you pace yourself. Your stash of pictures constitute a treasure trove of memories and savoring them only makes them sweeter. Some of us geezers have either never learned that lesson or choose to ignore it. All of us would emphasize that it is our wish that you don't make this your farewell tour!

    Best,

That car ended its long competition life in Australia at the Surfers Paradise track when Hampton made an abrupt turn at half track and nailed Jim Reed's Mustang funnycar. I can remember reading in a US publication at the time that Hampton was the victim of an out of control Aussie racer but in fact it was the other way around.

That car is still around, driven by Larry's son, Rocky. I'm not sure on the spelling but I think it is "Mallicone."

I know/knew Larry, when he drove it. We had a racers meeting in his garage many years ago. I raced down there back then.

Just wanted to mention that I posted a lot of my collection on other groups and somehow they wound up on HAMB which I don't care. The point I'm trying to get across is that I'm sorry for the dupes.

I got a lot of photos that never been seen so hang in there. As you can see theres a lot of F/C stuff.

There will be plenty of other classes comming, just got to get through the "A" section.

Don't ask about my fileing system as you wouldn't understand it. LOL

Wow! Thanks Mr. Plum. Pic 1 of... takes me way back & I have not seen a
pic of the FED in the back ground ever, other than my memory. That would be the digger of Rich & Dad Place out of (I belive Ind.) I was 10 -15 when Dad raced the UDRA Mid-west circut form 1970 -74 with names like Lahaie, GL Rupp/Dakin, Poncho (bandito), Kazwara,(Bob's Drags Chutes), Ron Potter(Golden Nugget), Paoli (Rat Pack), Jim Walter (Special Edition) etc. OH. MI,
IN, KY PA tracks almost weekly. Dad ran the Skunk AA/FD (as some HAMB
readers already know) Rich & Dad started out rough but after a couple of years put it together & begain winning races. The sad part is Rich was killed soon after that (from what I remember) in that hod rod in the back ground.
I don't recall them having a RED & that's the last paint sceam I remember.
(HAMB'ers correct me if I'm wrong) Rich was alway cool & talked to us kid
pit crew memebers like we where adults. Neat. Well, don't want to bring
anybody down but... Not sure of your history Mr. Plum, East Coast or West
Coast picture taking, but Dad's not doing so well and I've posted all the Skunk
photos we have(on the HAMB) if you have any from that aforementioned time and area we'd love to see them. Just some independents that had a blast back in the day. I'll post a shot to refresh your memory. Thanks for all your time &
contrubution to the HAMB it's really been a breath of fresh air - & a little nitro!
