Hahah!!! Where were you on Friday when we put about 100 miles driving out to a cruise night. Then I drove it all Saturday up to Mooresville and some back roads. It's getting some miles and soon to have a lot more!

  3. Jeffrey,

Are you going to have it at the Charlotte show? We'll be there Friday (and maybe Sat).

    See you there, Bill

Nah, probably not since I do not have a space. I'll tell you what though. You should stay Saturday so you can attend the Iron Lords Auto Fair After Party or Swap City Shindig. We are going to have food and beverages as well as a band on Saturday evening. It's a must attend for all those not in Austin!!!!

  5. Thanks for the offer!

Normally, I need to be back in Athens on Sunday for an 8:30 AM rehearsal, but will see what I can do.

Well you can always stay until 8 or 9 and head out and be home for good night sleep. So please consider. We'll probably start the party at around 5:30pm....pleanty of time to hang out!

Thanks! Don't worry, not much planned except a lot of driving. I gotta make it my own though so a few things here and there for right now.

Rusk PM'ed me with this Merc with '54 grille located on it. I like the grille a lot but I am not sure about the splash pan under. It seems to protrude out too much. But As far as the grille goes it awesome!!! Thanks Rusk!!!

Thats a killer looking Merc! The best looking chop Ive ever seen on a post Merc of that body style. Im partial to the 52-54 Mercs myself, as a 53 was my entry into old cars. If that was my car, Id find a '53 nose to put onto it. Has the bullets of the 54, and the smooth center of a 52. Thats my opinion.

    Now thats a beauty!!!!!

...as much as I loved the Hussy, I love the Merc. I agree the front pan looks like it should be holding a contintal kit....

Shameless plug for the tail light Mike. You should also also give credit to the feller who's idea it was to use the corvette lights:D:D:D:D. I think we already talked about the options that you have. I guess I will talk to you again about it!

I think so too John!!! Cool!

Update, I polished my new Caddy Sombreros and put them on Wednesday before shop night. They changed the car dramatically!!! It looked so fucking good and I was so proud of the car. Then I took the thruway this morning and lost one cap on the way. I watch it get hit by a car then I lost visual...fuck!!!! I am going back again to see if I can find it this evening. Already went back once and found nothing. Damn that sucks.

    Here it was Saturday night.....

Dice it is!!! I have 4 more of those Caddy caps coming so even though I would like not to loose one, I'll have 3 extra to replace if I do!

    UPDATE:

Car is driving like shit right now. It left me stranded on the side of the roads for an hour on Friday after being in some traffic and feeling like the carb was loading up. I let it sit for 45 minutes and limped it home having to clear the carb out ever few minutes. I would have to push the clutch in and hold the throttle at 2500rpm's for a few seconds other wise it wanted to stall out.

That night I replaced the fuel Filter and installed a cheap fuel pressure regulator (which I think I might take out because they are garbage from what I hear). Woke up the next morning for Hot Cakes & Hot Rods Breakfast and the car was still driving like shit! Only this time it felt like it was starving for fuel. I wonder if something is lodged inside the carb???

So now I am trying to knock some things off the list. I am going to replace the plugs because they look pretty fouled out and I am going to rebuild the single 94 with a Carpenter's rebuild kit.

Any advice? Sound like anything familiar????

Replace the plugs first JJ. What kind of fuel pump are you using? You need about 4psi fuel pressure. I can bring a gauge Wed. if you can get it to shop night.

I think it's a 4cly electric fuel pump. Not Sure what it's pumping pressure wise but I know when I down shit it's popping a lot like it's burning off the excess fuel.

I'll stop off tonight and get some new plugs. Should I attempt to rebuild that carb right off the bat too? It all started when I put about a half tank of new fuel in on Wednesday. When I was leaving the gas station it sputtered for a second. Then it drove fine to the shop, back home and on the way to work on Friday. I used 93 octane.

What could it have been that triggered the sputtering at the gas station???

no one has said it yet so i will.
i'm a bit partial to caddy's (prolly cause i got one) and i think '53 caddy bumper and bullet treatment would look great and fill the front out perfectly.

i'm no good with photoshop so i can't give you anything else to go on but this, but to me that front is screaming for the bullets.

I know, even if it's something simple like the '54 Merc Bullets. thanks!!!

Anybody else have ideas on the running issue? I need to dial this car in so I can get back to driving it! It's .60 over 8ba ford motor with a single 94 on top and the original oil Bath cleaner.
