  11. In post #3276, what is the circled car? Has a real Tucker look to it. Great thread, keep them coming.

Look like British Pickers:eek: I always hated that group for ruining good old Rock 'n Roll. Their early stuff was OK, but once they got drugged up, they lost me.

Close, but to me it looks more like a GM sedanette or whatever those fastback/slantbacks from the late 40s/early 50s were called. Here's a photo I found of a Tucker:

Greystroke, I disliked them for spawning the beachboys, jan and dean, freddie and the dreamers, the monkeys, and jerry and the pacemakers. Talk about ruining rock and roll.

I beleive that car in the photo might be a 42-47 Cadillac fastback

Okay, now I'm confused - what do you mean by "spawning"?

If you're saying the Beatles are respsonsible for Jan and Dean & the Beach Boys, how so??

J&D were - I thought - the first beach boy type guys who made it big, starting in like 1958 or '59? And the Beach Boys - weren't they about 1961? I remember listening to both of them BtB (Before the Beatles), who might've been there & helped other british groups and the Monkees.

But I certainly agree with you that American R&R wasn't the same after the british invasion.

  19. The Beach Boys first released "Surfin'" in 1960 then in 61, then 62, and I think again in 63 and was the first single I remember thinking, "This is an awesome sound." The rest of the Beach Boy stuff tapers from there. It becomes a little more bubblegum after KILLERS like 409 and the rest from that era.

The first Beatles single that got my attention was "I Saw Her Standing There" on a live bootleg. By far I think that is a far more superior rock & roll song. The raw intensity that jumps at you from the count-in is inspirational. The American blues music influenced the Brits and brought us monsters like The (silver) Beatles, The Stones and The Yardbirds. They sold it back to us as a heavier rock and roll while much of the country wasn't into it.

I guess what I'm saying is, while I love my Surfin Safari and California Girls, I think the Beatles have them respectively...btw I'm just 26, so what do I know.
