Olds 307 won't idle

  1. Glad you found it.
    Gaskets aren't much use when the bolts aren't tightened.
    As for form-a-gasket...a little goes a Loooooong way, and a lot...ends up in the oil pump.

    Yeah, the failure to understand that concept got me a free '69 GTO 400 one time after the previous owner's head gasket job RTV ended up in the pickup screen.

    When you rebuilt the carb did you knock out the plugs on the base to expose the air mixture adjustments screws and then buy a special adjusting tool to readjust your air mixture that was pre set at the factory then sealed with the plugs. most auto parts stores will have this flexible shaft screw driver with the special bits for carb adjusting.
