I kinda liked #34 as my friend jpbanjo (on the HAMB) contributed photos in that issue.

I really like the '32 Ford Special because of the History of the Stomberg 97. I think that one also had the story of the Japanese Americans that were sent to the camps shortly after Dec.7th. Those dude were pretty bad ***.

The Ardun Issue was really cool because I never knew all that much about them so I ate that up fast.

The Issue with Ashley Webb's (I think that's the name) Wedge roadster was awesome because of the ****ie Flippen Coupe inside.

****, don't think there was a "bad" issue but I don't have any of them before issue 12 or so.

It's hard to pick a favorite when there has never been a bad one. It's great to see stories about local history though like the Rothenberg '32 issue.

I like them all but, I guess my favorites would be Rikster Kolorized photos, the Sam Barris merc and the new one with the Valley Custom article.

I'll have to vote for #34 because it was my 15 minutes of fame (or more accurately 2 Pages of fame.) That's the back end of my roadster flat towing another '32 to St. Louis in 1959 on page 99. A friend of mine had just bought it and we were towing it from Tulsa to St. Louis. We knew the early history of the car which became known later as the Kessler roadster featured in the story. We got to meet and work with Thom Taylor putting the story together which was a lot of fun.
Here's the original and the one below that is one that didn't make the cut. it's me leaning on the tow car later that day. That's how close I came to fame.

Why doesn't this answer suprise me?

I'm kind of fond of #8 because its the first issue I got with my subscription. The content isn't half bad either. Bill Vinther's coupes, the black 32 3w that Dave Simard built (bare metal in #1), the Hirohita Merc and SoCal Speed Shop.

I guess this my intro to the HAMB I've been a lurker for a few years now, mainly looking at the cl***ifieds. I'm a second generation guy who learned everything I know about Hotrods from my Dad who is a life long Custom/Hotrod/Flattrack guy. To answer the question of this post my favorite issue is #33 because my car is in it. Here is the story. Got a call at work one day from my Wife explaining that I needed to hear the message left for me on the answering machine. She played it over the phone and it was a Staffer from the Rodders Journal asking if I was the guy with the 37 Ford. The caller asked me to give them a call. Now I could not believe it as my car was built by myself, my Dad, and a small group of friends in my own attatched garage. My only goal during the build was to try to build a drivable somewhat nostaligic (my interpretation) car. I actually taught myself to TIG weld (not very good by the way) during the build. The next day I called and talked to Steve ****an who asked me several questions and explained that he wanted to fly to Omaha to take pictures of my car. I said yes of course and to this day still have a hard time believing that my car has been featured in The Rodders Journal. I only had one copy of the Journal prior to the feature because I thought of it as a high end magazine that I could not afford at the time. I have since and always will be a subscriber now. Steve was a great guy who had nothing but respect for me and my car "a really cl*** act". Steve even took a few small pictures of my Dad's 49 Merc and our friends 59 Pontiac (a very nice gesture for two old school hotrodders from the 50's) which made the magazine and was a very nice gesture. I still don't think that my Dad or our friend Vince understood that the Rodders Journal was and still is the premier magazine in the country. Anyway just thought I'd share my story.

I'm a big '58 & '59 Impala kustom guy, so #32 is my favorite. Mox Miller's '58 Kustom is stellar!

Every one of them, and I'm glad that I bought them new right from the beginning. If I were forced to give up all of my car magazines but one (and I've got 2-3,000 of them), the RJs would stay.

I just purchased my friend's collection of The Rodders Journal. I'm happy about the purchase at $4.00 each. I missing 1-7 and 10. Where does a person look for the missing issues beside e-bay and swap meets? My friend said he started with #8, so he did good at keeping them all together. Now I have to figure out a way to keep them organized, yet handy to get at. Gary

Any easier question would be what's yer LEAST favorite issues.....I call 'em the "street rod" issues....

The issue's with vintage drag racing pics/stories have the most wear and tear and food stains on 'em......there my favs....

  22. The 2 isssues that had Pat Ganahl's Ayala articles in them. Also the 2 issues with the Hirohata merc story, Very important in the Kustom world.

  28. I don't recall the number but it is the one that Ryan ran the pick of the '****** *****ing at Blackmerc while working on Kevins flatty for an ad for the Jalopy Journal.

I was actually in there more than once but you would have had to known me for a very long time to recognize the other pic.
