The Motoramas in 1966 and '67 were at the Great Western Exhibit Center, as I recall, but they also might have been at the Pan-Pacific. The Pan Pacific Auditorium burned after transients started a fire in it while it was empty....a big fire

Also used in the thoroughly panned and financial flop "Xanadu". Gene Kelly's last "musical" stand and a movie I still enjoy from time to time.
Funny how transients are such fire bugs. Just pay them a few bucks and POOF, the place suddenly burns down. Sutro Baths in San Francisco went that way too, in 1966. "Kids playing inside the shuttered building" started that fire. Fires always seem solve any disputes by historical societies trying to save old buildings. Old building in the way of progress? The transients will take care of it for you! Yeah, right.

I sure would like to see SpecialEd tell us the Muntz story. He's barely gotten a mention on this thread and his story certainly merits telling in some detail. What a character, what a great story! And it is a Los Angeles story! And Ed, you might wind the story up with something about your Jet, what a cool car! What do you say ?
Speaking of fires...Two oil well fire fighters in their asbestos suits at Santa Fe Springs, Calif. oil wells fire in 1928
Too stinking funny! Perhaps another time... Everyone here on the HAMB has some contact EVERYDAY with something that MadMan Muntz created. Hell, probably damn near everybody in the USA...!
