Like the others have said they really don't flow with WWW it is just something that is not right with the look. But as for the Cragar SS look itself to me look great on certain types of cars/trucks. But I prefer the looks of Supremes better than a Cragar SS wheel. But like Fidgiter said the Cragars are tougher and because of it's strength to me they look bulky compared to the Supremes. That is my only problem with the Cragar SS.
Just remember...opinions are like assholes...most everyones got one and most times they stink worse than your's... Il Gimmi, ..this ain't no 'traditional' car site Cuz! This a hot rodding/custom site! Think for a moment...How did hot rods come to be...sure as shit NOT by following traditions cause there wasn't any. "THAT" is how we arrived here Bruddah! Alberta Bud...is right... Build it to suit your own whims and desires! There ain't NO RULES..it's Hot Rodding! Hell, half the clowns posting on the thread can't even tell the diff between Astros and S/S's in the 1st place ...that's some funny shit right there! So yeh, it's been do before..sometimes looks like crap, sometimes it's the cat's meow.. I say, hell yes, Run'em! If you don't like the look change it! Plenty guys around to buy your castaways-n-leftovers! It's only tires and wheels...& the combos are endless. Here's a few more..how about Salt Flats or Hali's or TTD's or Radirs or even those S/S lookin Astros..or those sharp wheels that guy's run'en on his merc wagen a page or 2 back....they'd all look sweet wrapped in wide white too!(But that's My opinion.) Find something YOU like..unless your're a 'traditionalist'. If you are, sell the Rod and go buy a Toyota! P.S. Maybe I'm wrong...but were you not 'kinda' fishing for pics of your dream combo??? Sorry to rant...bugs the crap outta me when folks say you can't "cause that's not the way it's done"...
Wow, that's a whole lotta not knowing where the hell you are... get a clue this is a traditional hot rod and custom site...
DO what you want !!!!!!!!!!!!!! and don't worry about what everyone else says. every fucking town in every fucking state has had their own tradition.......... all different, yet similar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and don't forget that some of these people telling you what to do , drive jap cars and bikes. so be yourself..........
"Ray Brock, who was publisher of Hot Rod and a close friend of Richter's, received the first production set of Cragars for his new 1964 Mustang. " Straight from the Cragar wheel website "history" page- http://www.cragarwheel.com/history/
Hmmmm....I predict Rally's next... Honestly, there is a guy on here with a late 30's coupe, black, with the non-historical combo on it, or at least he had them on it, at one time, and prior to that, I though Cragar+WWW=bad case of "pimp-envy" overdoing it, but, after digesting that car, over all, I began to be swayed...no, it ain't period correct, but, in the case of that car, it just worked...I think mostly because the rest of the car was so subtle... T'was the day I learned that it could, in some rare case, be pulled off. Of course, you will always be a no-good, filthy rotten, thumbing your nose at the status quo infidel, evidently. I think it's a pretty minor infraction, timeline wise... some of you guys won't be happy until we start having horseless carriage shows and races...and you bet they'd better have the RIGHT horses, buddy! haha...
I'm fairly certain, and correct me if I'm wrong on this, but...it's not the 40's or the 50's either, right? I don't remember anyone doing WWW and Cragars in the 70's, either, around here. Mags = blackwalls...was what our regional belief system was...
Hey, it don't look bad. I just think it'd look better another way. Opinions, opinions. But, it's done, it don't look bad, you like it....rock it. Oh, and your Nitro has arrived (see the Van in the background)
Ya know, it's weird, and I can't explain it. Mags are mags, but I'm cool with Radirs and WW's, but not SS's so much. Go figure
Groucho, Cragars are usually associated with 60's muscle cars as they were one of the first aftermarket 5 spoke rims.(Cragars seem to go better with raised white letters or redlines) Radirs on the other hand, because of the straight tri-bar spokes have a more street rod & custom look, where white walls, skinny or wide are more widely used & accepted.
If we want traditional we wouldnt run radials..... Run what you want, if WW on Cragar turns you on then do it. I prefer to make my own tradition anyway and have more respect for someone who does it there way they a follower. As far as myself, I was born in 64 and grew up loving Cragars and any mags. I always prefer mags over steel wheels, thats just my personal preference. To each there own.
I don't know about ss wheels but I think these would look okay with WW,or get a set of the same brand chrome steelie with the baby moons.
Then why does my 1962 falcon look good with wide whites? shouldn't they be narrow? certain cars pull off cragars and wwws. I think skinny whites would look better.
He only asked for "pics of Cragar s/s wheels with WW's". Let's provide "pics" if we have them, otherwise start your own thread about "opinions" on WWW's on Cragars.
