You're absolutely right Don! I didn't have my mind made up before the chop whether or not I was going to keep the Shoebox. I've got a feeling I will now. For 24? Well, next fall I'm going to tech school at NDSCS for their Custom Auto program. We get to learn upholstery, mig/tig welding and custom paint. So hopefully by then I'll have my '40 sedan done! Just have to paint it gold and put a black and white tuck and roll interior in it. If I have time and resources, I'd like to paint and upholster the '49 as well!

Thank you Mr. Hellfish! We try to be as cool as the Czars! If it wasn't for our accents and stigma that comes with Fargo I think we'd have a better shot...

Due to the upcoming holiday I won't be able to work on the shoebox this weekend... I will hopefully have more update pictures by the end of next weekend though. I have to get the big stuff out of the way so I can work on inner structures and bodywork again.

Stay tuned for a nice side profile shot...

As promised, here are the profile shots... Still a lot of work to be done but that's where the fun is, right?

Thanks Stefan! It was cool to have it taped; I didn't even ask them to tape it! I probably won't be posting more progress on the shoebox for about a week- I've got lots of homework to get done so I can graduate!

Smarg-I don't have too much else planned... just finish up the chop, bodywork, and primer... Eventually I'd like a '55 Desoto grille too.

Smarg- you're right. I've got a lot of time to put in yet, especially when it comes to the chop/windows/etc... but It'll be worth it in the end. I'll be keeping this one for as long as I can. I gotta find out how long the lead will hold up!

Here's a little update for all of you out there in Koolsville- My main metal man Brian formed up this beautiful sail panel yesterday with the planishing hammer and english wheel, and I've got it all trimmed up and ready to weld in today! We were able to to the driver's side panel in one piece, where where had to do the passenger side in two pieces, and the second piece has yet to be made.

The chop is coming together! I can see the light at the end of the sheetmetal tunnel. Thanks again Brian for making the sail panels- you did a mighty fine job!

I got the driver's side sail panel partially welded in and I couldn't help but do a flow check with the rear window put in place...

Thanks Stefan T! You're moving right along on your project too!

If I get a chance I will tack in the new sheetmetal between the rear window and the decklid this week... I'm so excited to see it come together!

I might be getting a '55 Desoto grille from a fellow hamber, and I've been thinking about things like overriders. The shoebox will get a '51 Mercury front overrider and bumper guards and a narrowed '54 Chevy rear overrider.

I plan on having the car in primer by the end of June / early July... after that, I will start work on the '40 again.

Thanks Joe! Hopefully you'll see this around your area in the next couple of years...

Thanks SPDJNKY! I was laughing the other day at the pics at the beginning of my first thread when I got it... yuck!

Royalshifter- I'm currently in my last 2 weeks of my last semester of college, so studying has come first. I did find a nice '55 Desoto grille for it though!:D (thanks again WB69) I'll get a little work done on it here and there between now and the end of May...
