I'll tell ya, this car does it for me, the look: stance, traditional appearance, the chopped roof that mimics a salt flat racer.
I would say that this is influential, because its timeless and will keep coming back when others will eventually, fade away.

I agree 3Wlarrys car is amazing... But how can a car that was influenced by the original (ken or kieths not sure which one was done first) be influential? I mean other than shiney paint it's pretty much a clone. No offense to Larry of course.

What does it do? Drive it on the street, race it, sit there and look nasty, or what?

The stupidly high cost of '32 Ford bodies when compared to the cost of Model A bodies?

Of the decade? I'd have to say that one of my top 3 was a black coupe that belonged to a HAMBER.... 7wLarry

If your vintage vision of things is inspired by anything built in the last ten years you are likely far from hitting the mark.

I own TRJ 37, I bought it for the "Al liked apricots and Hilborns are similar but different" Algon article hoping for some actual facts or a hint of history. I'm not much for what random opinion such and such has about what happened before he was alive. Just the same the full feature on the iconic Nacho master piece amazed me. Not that someone would build it, there is an ass for every seat but more that it was possible to write that many pages of bullshit about a hacked rat rod truck cab with stuff randomly slapped on it. That said I like it, hell it's coolest thing ever , because if the bandwagon digs it they won't be competing for anything I'd want to own. You know want one.

I'm kinda computer dumb so if someone would please post pictures of this... My personal pick has to be Jeff Norwell's truck. Since I've been watching this site and seeing his truck it makes me want to throw rocks at mine.

As an old man this continues to amaze me! There is no perfect hotrod for everyone, because we are all individuals. Some don't the have the money, some don't have the talent, some don't have the design skills, and some just want to copy something.

I don't think that there is a new hotrod that wasn't done in 1930-40.s ! It is just that more pieces are available to put on the cars, and more people want to try new stuff.

Everyone builds what they can build, or have built for them, and have enjoyment in the doing, and in the driving, and in the repairing.

I think must hotrods are happier working on the darn things than driving them. And that doesn't change until they can no longer do it, or afford it.

As to ratrods, them that have them like them, and is that not all that counts.

Well put man,I can't say a single car was an inspiration but cats like Rolling Bones,Jimmy Shine,Brian Bass,etc........inspired wrenchers to get back in their cars and drive. From NYC to b'ville in August my hats off to the Rolling Bones guys!

Any shifters car..They really sped up the evolution of Throwback Rods....

The choppers were right there too, so pick any of the handful of 32s or model As they built.

    Shag's truck

    The Deacons cars.

    and a handful of others

Love 'em or hate 'em these cars were living breathing perceptions of what was in the little pages..but you could touch them and smell them and drive them and scare old people with 'em.
they stripped the candy coating away from "poodle skirts and crying dolls" and made you live in a moment that was pioneering and dangerous and dark like a comic book. in some aspects they were B movies, rat fink t-shirts, Hasil Adkins records fueled with a beer fury at midnight before the next days show...on wheels

pick up any traditional hot rod mag from 2000 when they were just starting to be sold at grocery stores in Montana and these are these cars you'll see in it Without the cars like these there wouldn't be so many primered hot rods or even any rat rods...

The BT roadster was influential but it appeals to a crowd with different taste it's almost a restoration of a 40s hot rod which I love, that's what I'm building. but I think it reinforced a style of building in which historical and styling details were more prevailent than say the details of the Purple people eater in which the essencs of "Kulture" is expressed.

Yea, I think the price ratio of 32s to Model A's is about 10 to 1 too. So it all kinda equals out, right? ;^)

  26. It's funny what some people think constitutes "influential".

To me, to be influential, I think the car has to have been seen by the masses, has to have set trends, and it's "influence" has to be directly seen in new builds.

Nacho's truck looks to me to have been influenced by Jimmy Shine & Rudy's trucks. The Rolling Bones stuff has made an impact (3wLarry's car for one) but how many are really cutting their steel Deuces THAT hard? People love their stuff but how many are really copying it?

For me, I'd have to say that the most influential of the past decade would have to be a toss up between Jimmy Shine's & Rudy's trucks. Before either were built, how many did you see of that style?

In the context of this thread, I think it's fair to say that "it" influenced the style of many builds during the past decade.
