He is my build thread for my 1926 Model T touring. I have a two kids so the touring body will work out great. I have a model A frame, model T rear spring, 8AB flathead, 3spd with overdrive merc ******, and 39 rear. The body is being delivered in two weeks. I have the frame gutted and boxed and currently I'm working on mounting the rear and engine/trans. I plan on painting the car a medium green with a cream wires and suspension. This is my first personnal hot rod so I'm pretty stoked!
Going to be a very cool ride, i like the color combo. Will you be running it with or without the top?
Cool! My next project is a '26 roadster on an A ch***is. I'll be watching this one closely. -mikethegreek-
Kool. I got a 26 touring. I was planning on doing the Model A ch***is too, but I am thinking about going the 32 route somedays. LOL I like your choice of colors too. Good Luck on your build.
looks good and green and cream will look great..love the T tourings....here is my build thread... http://www.ruffrodders.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42654
I am looking forward to following this one, as I would like to do a touring when I clear some space in the garage. Good luck and keep us posted.
"Whats that it looks like a buggy...haha" Kwmpa Yep that's what my daughter thought. "Dad are you building an amish buggy?"
Got the body on Sat. So Sun my wife and I mounted the engine/trans and sat the body on. My daughter loves it!
Messed around a little last night and got all 4 latches working. I need to find strikers for the front two doors. Luckily all the hinges are in good shape. A little PB blaster and everything is working good.
Starting fitting up steering column. It is a ross box from a 34 IHC. Also worked on a template for the dash.
Worked on the T a little yesterday. I sectioned 2" out of the rad shell and installed the rear under the car.
Some pics from last night. I fabbed up a new dash and fitted to the car. I'm going to use rivet head screws to hold it in the car, right now I just used some 1/4" bolts. I'm trying to decide which gauges to use. I have a complete 55 packard dash and a unknown speedo I picked up at Hershey. I was thinking about using the turn signal arrows and mesh background from the packard. I would cut it between the outer gauges and the switches. Not 100% on which way to go so opinions are welcome!
What do people use for the pivot bolt on the trans end of the bones? Also what else do you but in to replace the strength of the torque tube?
A heim for the bones and a torque arm to replace the torque tube. Look at Hot Rod Works site for ideas. There are also DOZENS of threads along these lines, Nealinca did one of the nicest torque arms
Here is an olderthread with LOTS of Ideas and a picture of Neals setup as well as the Hot Rod Ch***is kit and the hot rod works link. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66857&highlight=torque&showall=1
