Hey guys, I just happened upon this thread about my car. I appreciate all the opinions. I decided that I'm driving it there and if it doesn't make it in... I'll park in the VIP section and check out the other rides. I just wanna have fun!!! I made the mistake of worrying about the looks of my chevy and not the mechanical and the damned thing fell apart. With this car I worried about the mechanial stuff first. It's a never ending learning process. Right now I just want to enjoy summer and all the cool cars, so, Im for sure gonna be there. Even making a trophy! CAn't wait to see all you fellas there.

  2. Bam, there is the answer to the pissin match. He is going to come and have fun no matter what. Isnt that the whole point? Lookin forward to meeting ya and seeing the car, after all you took the time to save it right.

I just hope that ALL can have that same mindset - cause this is EXACTLY what we are after -

let's all get together - have a good time - appreciate each others rides - and have a memorable day together.

    Thanks for being cool Blades

    and

I sent your promo pack today - THANKS!

  4. Going to the show and having fun is what it's all about. You can't let everyone in or it will never be the show that you want.

You must limit the range of styles of cars getting in to insure that you will get the kind of show that you are after. I think this will be one of the bigger shows in the midwest, hands down!!

Man, what's with that chubby guy? Have you been around here to long because it seems that your starting to act like afew others around this site. Hopefully you will still be at the show.

    Great quote!
Well, We have our VIP parking area for cars that don't fit the bill. Worked great last year. You don't bring a mustang to a corvette show, do you? If you get hung up and pissed off your car doesn't make the cut and you have to park in the spectator lot or VIP area or whatever, we don't want your kind at the show. The car only gets you to the show, it is the people that make the show what it is. If we didn't let any cars into the shakedown, I think we would see just as many people because of our awesome participants and the venue.

I , like Kevin, dont worry about getting in a show. It is fine if I dont fit the guidlines, but I had better make some laps on the track!

The fairlane, doesnt have "cool " in it and it is better now than if it were sprayed flat black. The 55 cool, very cool, just needs front wheels. in progress and still cool.

  8. If I were running the gate when the 55 came thru as it is in the picture, it would be iffy with the front wheels. Now if the wheels were matched to the rear then I personally would let it in. But that is my opinion of that car (with the exception of it being lowered) for what John is looking for at his show.

  9. I would tend to agree with you on that car. I wonder how many people will volunteer to do the gate job.
You my friend will see alot of the old wags taillights on the way to Farley punk!

Man that ford looks like a real clean complete car, does it run and drive?

im in the same predicament with my lesabre. its a 65 so i can lie and call it a 64 to make it into most shows but it will never be anything other then stock. so even though its a cool car people just dont care too much for it. it ****s but it sits out in the parking lot with the rest of em!

Will my 63 galaxie make it into the show? It's lowered and has T-70s[modeled after old wheel] on it, the rest of it looks old even down to the generator.

My car started this thread when it was plain Jane, not no more... so can I get it into the show now? If not, that's cool, BUT.... This is what I've done so far. New leafs, coils, 4 shocks, brakes, carpeting, exhaust, tires, bearings, axle seals, trans modulator, new carb, new plugs, wires. Painted the roof, added spidercaps, fender skirts. '59 Caddy lites, and pinstriping. Hidden stereo in glovebox. The car is getting lowered in the back by 3" at this very moment. I know it's not 100% (are they ever?), It needs some patching and paint, but I did the best I could with hardley any money. This has all been in the last month. All so I could get into the show. Like I said if not. Oh well. I'll get to scope out other cars, meet new people, and hand out a trophy. CAN'T WAIT! :D

Thanks blades, i like your tailights!

  23. That car is way to clean to start heating coils and painting scallops on. I say change the hubcaps up or paint the wheels, stripe it up and let it be. Don't screw up that car trying to make it what it isn't. It's cool like it is.
