ill be trying to switch out my Weds shift to a tues. shift ... hopefully ill be out cruising with you guys. If not ill see you guys at 9pm directly after work ill take the freeway and get off right on Van Nuys, Make a left and cruise, cruise, cruise

  2. Ya know, you guys may not know it but all this we don't need a leader bullshit was kind of a slap in Rieds face. The cruise was his baby, he did bring it about. Now your all saying " we don't need you..." You think that don't bother Ried and Pam? Nice, that's a real HAMB'er spirit.

I honestly took the "no leader" thing as a sort of "well what do we do now" situation and the truth is its better if us as a group just go out this weds and cruise. I wouldn't say its like "hey we never actually needed him" not at all ... but its like Groucho said ... the guy is trying to distance himself from having any type of leadership role... if anything choosing a new "leader" would be more of a slap in the face then anything else. Could anyone ever really replace Ried ? Im constantely looking at the VNCA site waiting for an update but if its true the Ried wants to take a step back and keep a low profile then hey more power to the guy. I wouldn't want the guy the brought a cruise to van nuys to get shit from some people that might be pissed about him bringing in money to the blvd.

i think you might be reading too much into it.

  4. Well, I got an email from Ried that seemed on the contrary.

    Where do we start?!

    1st) It's "Reid"...not Ried.

2nd) I would say "Can't we all get along?" but that is, in and of itself, just a little too cliche!

3rd) Reid has done a standup job with this whole thing. If it ended tomorrow, we are forever indebted to him, for what we had thus far. Fortunately for us, it is at a time that we can go forward without an individual leader. Yes, things would be much better with Reid at the helm, but that is life, and what can we really you do.

4th) I also realize that the powers to be, have never been for us, and will never be. Reid had to step back as the city and other public officials were looking for someone to target. Since he is no longer the promoter, he is out of their sights. I don't think that the city has the money to truly pursue putting an end to this at this time.

5th) Let's stop the rock throwing and get out and cruise!!!

well if reid has a few comments about it he should really speak for himself or atleast put it up on the VNCA site with an email where we can explain what we all are trying to say.

And hey if the guy came out tomorrow and said "well i found another part of van nuys blvd where the locals are welcoming us with open arms" then ill be right there cruising with everyone.

Same here. I hated not having a local monthly cruise. One would say "well Northridge , Burbank, Woodland Hills have meets and cruises" but Van Nuys should really have one and we should try to keep it alive.

Well putt ... see you guys on weds !

This is one reason I have kept away from The HAMB. Too much drama.

  10. Van Nuys is the only one that I'd call a "true" cruise;)

Seghi - are you saying in order not to offend Reid we don't go?!
Grateful to Reid & Pam for all their efforts, I hope they don't think we're turning our backs on them by getting out there and carrying on what they started...
Reid, Pam, if you're out there, it'd be great to see you out on the Boulevard, cruising, and actually being able to enjoy it!
    See y'all on Wednesday night!

Glad to hear it mate! You be in the 55 again yet? I'll be in my non-HAMB-friendly-but-perfect-for-the-boulevard '73 Chevy Van with polished Americans.

  14. No it'll be awhile before I can cruise that again.

  15. I don't see why early AMERICAN custom vans can't be HAMB friendly. They're not Japanese.
And they are part of the BLVD culture. So sure why not, come one come all, let's VAN-IT-UP.
    It'll be VANTASTIC.

The order was more like, got to eat, got yelled @ by the cops @ Ralphs, got to fart on the front seat of my car

  28. it was a good turn out on the blvd, we don't need no stinkin parking lots people were parked up and down van nuys and cruising around.

  29. Yes we were like back we did back in the day.

I was there 'til about 10:45. I left because the squirrels started coming out. Some kid was making speed runs in a model A hot rod with no exhaust. Trucks with bag draggin' ass and showering sparks. Not cool. But it was a good turn out. As it gets warmer it should pick up.

Cops shut down Ralphs, parked down at the Lamplighter for a bit and cruised up and down a couple of times. Good turnout, had to head out around 9 cuz the wife was gonna chew me a new one for keeping our 10 yr old out too late. Can't mwait 'til next month, better weather means bigger crowds, hopefully.
