We need a cool traditional show here in Phoenix. Sure we get GG's, Barrett & all the auctions but there are no traditional shows. We are close enough to attract from many states but yet we have nothing. Last year they tried with the Tres Dias but I believe lack of promotion, $$$, and some other factors were involved, it was a good try but fell short. We all need to step up and get something going......

I second the motion - Kerry for President! :D

Hey Kerry that would be cool, certainly a lot of HAMBers here in the valley and surrounding states.

More power to you for trying to put something cool together. I know how you feel but try living in Tucson! At least you guys get (in addition to the above-mentioned two GG's) the NHRA in Feb. and Nostalgia drags in April. A man could grow fat on that. Tucson is BONE DRY man. There are lot of cool cars here but everyone clears out and heads for home by 8:30 P.M. so they can have a gl*** of "Ensure" and watch "Murder She Wrote"...
We also have the worst D.J. in the world at the only decent local get together! This guy is disgusting, he makes me sick. Enjoy the Phoenix scene my friend cause it could be worse.

Kerry what type of show are you looking to have. Similar to the viva Las Vegas show or a pre 70's show. Or just a certain type of cars. Let me know

    Thanks

Oh S**T.......I would love to be involved with a good show. As for what type of show, I think Tres Dias was headed the right way. But I think lack of promothion and the $$$ just to get in scared people away. They certainly had the band and guest line up covered though....
There are plenty of shows for all the Muscle and Street Rods (Hell the Pavillions draw a couple hundred every week), so a pre-64 customs and traditionals type show would be killer. Throw in a few of the cool local bands, some pinup girls running around, some vendors, maybe a swap area and it would be amazing. There are enough car clubs in the area with cool cars that it would be a good start right there. I thought Lake Havasu was going to be the show for AZ but when I saw the pics of mini-trucks and what not, I am glad I did not make a trip up there. Viva is great, Hunnert looks great, as do the Rat Rod Rumble, Rust Revival, Billetproof, etc......What it would take to do it, I have no idea (actually, I have lots of ideas for a cool show, just don't know how to develop them). So, what do we have to do ???

Will this be on of those Traditional shows with a bunch of traditional psychobilly and punk bands? Nothing says traditional like a good ol' 21st century band, huh?

Just don't have it outside in August... apparently no one goes outside then! I went to a show last summer that had about 75 people and 5 to 10 cars.

Well to me the traditional Rockabilly bands fit in with the whole hot rod scene. Punk not so much (even though I dig some of it). To me having a pre 64 type show with a heavy emphisis on 50's & earlier cars, having a band playing Zeppelin or current music would not fit in. There are some good local Rockabilly bands though.....Voodoo Swing, The Heymakers, Rooster Coup DeVille, Rythem Dragons, so you could have some good music going on. You don't need to bring in **** Dale and all the bigger names like Tres Dias so you could keep the price for entry and general admission to a decent level, and still have some good entertainment. Just my opinion.

Damn, the Sinners had the best show around last fall with some cool bands and cars and that was just their party. Imagine if you could have a decent sized venue, and really promote it. It works for other shows in other places, so why could it not work here? We certainly have a long enough season of decent weather, plenty of hotels, so it could be done.

True....150 degrees is too hot. I don't care how many bad *** cars show up.

I think for the first show it would be better if we do only a car show and possibly a DJ with some old school music nothing else. Than for the following show see how the first one went than at that time do a swap meet and others. I think start small and see what type of interest is generated from the first one. Location is always a problem cant find a space big especially if you have a swap meet and it is very expensive. To where if the show start small than you can find a location that will accomodate for the first one. I do go to the Scottsdale pavillion on Saturday and do see a lot of nice cars I would like to see at this perticular show. I am sure that we can find sponsors to help us with this should not be a problem. Maybe we need to set up a meeting and talk about this show and to see which month of the year would be practicle.

    Thanks !

Arizona has some beautiful drives. Why not do a driving event? Is there anything cooler than looking down a scenic road and seeing it full of rods and customs? Not to me, there isn't.

This is one reason why we threw our Prescott show last year same date as the swap meet... We were tired of not enjoying the whole point to building our rides and that is by taking them out on the hiway. Keep ur eyes peeled we are trying to do a local show and prescott again

No prob Kurtis.....We had a blast that night. Tres Dias may have been aimed at the scenesters or whatever but the more the merrier. Better to have a lot of people looking at the cars than less people. Plus, their money spends just the same for the vendors and what not. And I think they really like looking at and look up the the Hot Rodders. Plus, what better way to get more people into hot rodding than to let them hang with the cars. So, scenester does not bother me (& I like Rockabilly, being a guitar player ) so like I said, the more the merrier.

Great Idea but that would probably be more for locals or maybe do it the night before the official show.

Post your Prescott show well in advance. There are a bunch of old broke-down drag racers living in Prescott. I'd sure have a place to stay...

Not sure we'll get a hand full of people unless a car club wants to step up and sponser. Maybe the thing to do is find a bar to host the show, but where do you have a place big enough for the cars in the show and spectators cars and how would you keep out post 64 cars ? How the hell did Hunnert and those shows get started ???

It is really too bad you could not get the Pavillions in Scottsdale to do a traditional show once a year. Make it an all day/night show. They have the DJ, plenty of food and parking, hotels near by. Throw in a section for some vendors. I don't go there anymore because I am sick of the same cars and all the new Corvettes every week. They do Buick/Pontiac nights and other club nights so why not a traditional show ?

One last comment and then the guy from California will shut up. Enforce the same year cut off for Harleys that you do for cars. Late models are late models. Billited up Evo bikes are tow wheeled Donks, IMO.

If I ran a show, I'd make the late model hawgs and rat rods park together.
