Pappy said "son you're gonna' drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop drivin' that HOT ROD LINCOLN!" DRIVE IT LARRY!!!
My Pappy said "Son, you ain't got a whole lot of brains to be pouring gas directly from a gas can into the carb of a running car that's subject to backfire at any moment." Bob
I agree. I hate to be the safety patrol geek but I almost lost a friend the same way. Huge fireball blew burning gas all over his face and neck. Doctors told him he was very very lucky considering the cir***stances. His dad was in the drivers seat and it really shook him up. Thought he had killed his son.
Personal safety aside, why the hell would they run the risk of sending a historically significant, irreplaceable hot rod up in flames. That's just totally stupid, and enough to drive Voodoo Larry's Pappy to drinkin' if he don't stop workin' on that hot rod Lincoln. Bob
VooDoo Larry is a really cool and friendly guy, Ive had cars that were outta time puke a little fire up through the carb.. but never a whole hell of a lot.. but i also dont put my face over it... And it helps if you have a fire extinguisher handy. Im sure he had it under control. I would say just enjoy the Video
I had no idea this car was a real deal, cl***ic, would like to see more, hopefully not burned up. Lets see fuel tank above the carb, gravity feed, take 3 minutes and get gas to flow to the carb, sorry this guy isn't too bright. Fellow I worked with years ago did this same stupid trick guess what it fired on him, melted 50/50 polyester coveralls to his chest and stomach in the hospital for a week, couple weeks off work for him.
Cool car, historic car, but yeah when I seen him pouring gas down the carb from a gascan with the motor running..... not smart
All great guys, *****en car, they are just lucky no one got hurt or killed especially those kids running around. If that old Lincoln would have backfired a spark into that gas can it would have been Napalm city! That is the stupidest thing I have seen anybody do on the H.A.M.B.
Ya know I have been around old cares my whole little 36 yrs of life. The only time I have seen huge back fires is when some NIMROD has the timing screwed up and does not have the slightest Idea WTF he is doing.. Larry is no spring chicken to messin with old engines, i grew up around some of the best mechanics and if everything is in place, and where it should be the chance of backfiring and blowing **** up is really low.. If you look closely and pay attention it is not like he is pouring it in right on start up. you have to get the bowls full on those old carbs and yes dumping some fuel down the carb on an engine that just has not been run in a while is most likely not gonna blowwwwwww up.. you guys watch too much true tv and reality tv ****... I am not saying everyone should do this, but in 36 yrs, I have never seen nor had it happen. Sure I have had a few back fires and I too have dumped fuel down the throat before, but not if the damn thing was outta wack... I guess I am one of the few lucky ones.. Oh and I have had more batteries Explode in my face than backfires.. Happy Torching..
oh hell yeah, saw voodoo larry with voodoo diablo at the ducktail run in gascity In. a few years back , the guys a trip , really cool too , balls to the wall , go for it larry you get my vote ...and oh yeah a cool car club too,
Uhm yeah most backfires occur at start up duhhhh. Haha while its running is just like bottle feeding a baby. If its going to baack fire its going to be on start up or while getting off and on the trottle heavily. Come guys you all know this stuff.. maybe I am just being a **** today, but this is just getting to me. Have a great day I am gonna enjoy some local base ball. We can hash it out later haha
Never did I say I was an expert haha. Far from it. We all learn new stuff every day. I know I do.. the HAMB is a great place for gaining this knowledge too. Our opinions are like ***holes we all have 1. If you don't like what someone has to say keep reading. Oh yeah. Wtf is starting fluid used for too hahaha. Just to fuel the fire.. seriously guys wtf is the big deal? I can bet 85 to 90% of us here have dumped fuel down the throat of an engine at 1 time or another.
