    Found a 1953 Country Sedan I am debating about buying...looks really solid,

    ****but will need a tailgate.****

    All the 1952-54 lower gates I have seen, excetp a few, have the same rust line...anyone have a good one, in case I get this?

    "Good = no rust".

    Thanks! There are no patch panels, not even for the outer skin of these.

    I just saw one in a wrecking yard out side of phoenix today, but didn't pay attention to the tailgate. I have to go up again next weekend and can check then.

    From past experience,,,it's a common problem with the 52-54 Wagons and you are right patch panels don't exist for the tailgate but you can make your own.

    Just cut out the existing metal,,sandblast that area and replace with new sheet metal.

    This is the tail gate on our '54 Ranch Wagon,,HRP

    Got one?

    Bump...looking again!

    I live in Vegas and they are rusted here, even. Odd design.
    Like 1949-52 Chevy wagons...always rusted at the bottom.

    THANKS.
