Customs Restoring 1953 Studebaker Hubcaps

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Pro Stock John, Mar 17, 2009.

  1. When was the last time you actually priced any stude parts. Anything five three is golden.

  2. Not sure what you are saying. I have a set of 54-55's I think, and I need to fix them up they have dings.

  3. If you paid less than 100 bucks a copy for them you stole them. The pics you showed are Stude caps closer to 55 I believe but they didnb't change much back then and I could be mistaken.

The dents and dings you work out with a s****. Get a block of wood to back it up and work it from the convex side.

  4. Mmmm. I bought all 5 for $135 shipped.

I'll try the s****, you have intrigued me sir. :)

I think a HAMB'er by the name of Matthew Burnette does stainless restoration down in Georgia. His biz is Starlight Stainless. PM me for his email if you are interested.

  6. Thanks for the info I sent him an email.

  7. I talked to Ferny at http://www.hubcaps.org/, we first were talking about me buying some 'caps from him, but then the convo turned to me maybe sending him a set for them to fix up. Anyone ever used these guys?

I'm also very interested in purchasing more 54-55 Studebaker hubcaps so long as they don't have little pinches/dimples on the outer edge where they can't be fixed.

  8. I'm becoming obsessed about hubcaps now. No wonder so many folks run the same 5 hubcaps you can buy new from everyone or spider caps. Ugh.

John,I can't comment on any specific repair service from these guys, but when I spoke to them about the '54 New Yorker caps I got from them, they went to great lengths to point out they were used. However, when they arrived they looked, without exageration, brand new to me,I mean perfect. Now I'm gonna guess that to look like NOS like they do,they must do some repair work to their caps and do it well ! I would most definately stand behind them
    Best of luck
    Paul
