It's really starting to look like a car again!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Apr 21, 2010.

  1. After 7 long years and slowly easing into year 8 the car has received 103 patch panels & I went through 33 one hundred lb bags of sand for blasting the '54 Ford Ranch Wagon.... It's finally sporting all the sheet metal,,still a lotta work to be accomplish but I'm liking the look.

The last piece of the puzzle was the hood and seeing it on the car has really got me excited.:D

It's good not to trip over the hood in the middle of the floor any more!:rolleyes:HRP

    Hey,

Wow don't cover it! No goofy "me-too trinkets" necessary! A classy green longroof.

    VERY pretty!

Although I never HAVE figured out WHY manufacturers built station wagons with only 2 doors, I'm glad they did!!....:)

    Nice!
Class act, just the way it sits....I'd drive it everywhere, with some pillows and an air mattress in back!
It would make a great "tent" for The Jalopy Showdown...

I'm recalling when you started the rebuild and posting the pictures of it being dragged into the light of day after a long hibernation. That was thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours ago. You can be very proud of what you've accomplished and your wife and you can now enjoy thousands of miles extracting the pleasure that contained with in its sheetmetal. Fill the tank and drive off into the sunset...........time to enjoy.

  25. Wow, Danny!!!

I like this car more each time I see it.
We want to see it live, when you get it to the first cruise. Let us know, even on short notice, and we're there.

    GREAT JOB!!!

  26. Thank you all for the positive comments,,for the guys not familiar with this project it was purchased new by my wife's grandmother and abused to death before we owned it.

This photo was taken in the mid 50's,,the little girl is my wife and her mother and her grandmothers wagon is in the background.

We purchased the material several years ago but the colors might change,,so I'll keep that under my hat for now,,

I can promise you,,no goofy stuff,,,simple and understated is the idea.

I live too far from the coast,,and I can't surf so I ain't gonna fake it.

and as far as the colors,,the Queen of Visa picked them and i think she hit a home run.

I would like to think I could drive it to Fletcher,N.C. for the swap meet,,but time and money are against me,,,I would really like to think maybe Charlotte Goodguys show,,we will see.

Thank you Frank,,yeah,it has been a long time and a pile of fun tickets to get it to this point,,and it's gonna take more of both,,still have the glass to contend with,,more rubber, some chrome to pay for, wiring and upholstery,,and if any cash is left put gas in the tank and enjoy.:)

Thank you so much Ken,,you and Vicki will be some of the first to know about it.

    again,,thank you all,, HRP

Looking good, Danny! It's nice that you've been able to resurrect a piece of family history. We had a '52 Country Sedan 4-door when I was growing up, and that sure looks familiar, even to the green and white paint scheme (although ours was a darker green).

Maybe we'll see it in Greenwood this fall?

3300 pounds of sand...??? What, you loaded that into your 50 ton press and made all those patch panels...???

    Prolly not, eh...???

That wagon is looking good...green is the new red these days...
