If you haven't followed through with this yet, please do so now. Our efforts to date have put us in a position to make this happen, but we need to follow up. Let's keep hotrodding alive!

  3. We melted down their fax machines. The Assemblyman's office is asking that we continue to do phone calls and e-mails only. Good right up till the hearing on the 21st.

Still a day left to get on the support list with the main Appropriations Committee office. Faxes ok for that. See above for the contact numbers.

This is as much about making a statement as it is the passing of the bill. Even if you feel this issue doesn't affect you, please call or write. We are making a statement, we can get organized and we do vote. It may make them think twice about messing with us in the future.

    Ooops!:D

I have everybody I know, who cares about even the slightest (even some who don't own cars), calling, faxing and emailing.

    Let's keep this rolling!

  12. SUCCESS!

It ain't over yet, but we got passed another committee today. The Appropriations Committee motioned it through without a vote. Weird how they can do that, but I'll take it.

I'll be posting info on who to thank (very important!) in a day or two, along with contact info on the next committee.

Again, your phone calls, letters, and e-mails are what's making this happen.
Thanks to everyone, stay tuned, and be ready for the next round.

Will you post the names of some of the groups that were there to oppose the bill?

  15. Today it was the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, (BAAQMD). Last time it was the American Lung Assn. and the California Pollution Control Officers Assn. (?)

I'm starting to think these groups are just paid lobbyists, we could probably buy them over to our side, for the right price. I also think the commitee member know that as well. Didn't do the opposition a bit of good today. Our strength is in numbers. And we got 'em.

  17. Lars,
Send me a PM with your story. We're trying to fix things here, maybe something we can learn from and change.

  18. Those rich fu**s! This whole F-ing thing-- I did not watch my buddies die face down in the muck so that this F-ing strumpet--

I don't see any connection to Vietnam, Walter.

Well, there isn't a literal connection, Dude.

Walter, face it, there isn't any connection.

    Have it your way...

Paid lobbyists are ruining the country. I'm glad that we are making our voices heard over the loud rustle of snakes slithering through cash.

Great news EddieB ............ I'm watching from the wings over here.

  22. KIRK! ... Someone in the GOODGUY's organization should have a face-to-face meeting with the mayor of the city in which the GG's World Headquarters currently resides ... Pleasanton Mayor Jennifer Hosterman is an active member of the BAAQMD ... perhaps she should be reminded of all the $$$ that is pumped into the local economy via the events that GG's holds at the Alameda County Fairgrounds ... and just how statistically insignificant the pollution spewed from our Hot Rods is to the air quality in the Bay Area.

very good news, but what is the next step in the process?

  25. Message I got today from the assemblymans's office...

    Eddie,

Please note the votes on AB 1740 here http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/09-10/bill/asm/ab_1701-1750/ab_1740_vote_20100421_000001_asm_comm.html

It would be great if we could send letters/e-mails to the Democrats (especially Chairman Fuentes) thanking them for supporting AB 1740. those democrats are:

    Hall
    Calderon
    Fuentes
    Torlakson
    Coto
    Solorio

Letters on car club letter head would be great. Those six are the reason that the bill passed.

    Andrew Shedlock
Office of Assembly Member Kevin Jeffries

I guess there was a vote, it must have took place before the hearing. I was so focused on what that lobbyist for the BAAQMD was spouting off, I missed it. No matter, we got it through. Next step, thank you letters to those who voted yes. Please don't attack the no voters, it won't do us any good. Many of them have crossed over to our side as things are moving along, keep that in mind. Fuentes is a car guy, and a major part of this success.

The next hearing will be on the main floor, the week of May 3rd. I'll post contact info here as soon as I get it. You guys are great, thanks KIRK!, everyone keep up the good work.

  26. Here's a list of Democrats that either voted, or may vote for our bill. Check to see if any are representing your district that you live. Don't attack the no voters, many have crossed over to our side. The Republican side is with us, but the committees are Democrat majorities.

These Democrats voted AYE in one of the committees. I would thank them:

    Galgiani
    Portantino
    Solorio
    Fuentes
    Chuck Calderon
    Coto
    Hall
    Torlakson

This Democrat ABSTAINED. I would still lobby him:

    Furutani

These two Democrats voted NO, but I would still lobby them if you have
clubs in their areas that will contact them:

    Bradford
    Davis

These Democrats have never seen the bill, but should be lobbied:

    Arambula
    Beall
    Block
    Caballero
    Carter
    De La Torre
    De Leon
    Fong
    Lieu
    Ma
    Mendoza
    John Perez
    Manuel Perez
    Swanson
    Torres

The best way, if you can put it together, is to have clubs located in
these districts make direct contact by letter and phone.

The bill goes to the floor hearing the week of May 3rd. Keep up the good work, we're almost there...

It means to put the thread back up to the top of the list. One can give it a "bump". To the top.
