Hot Rods Does Anyone Ever SELL CANADIAN FLATHEAD Heads? If So, How Much?

I have been searching for the past couple months for a pair of Canadian aluminum heads with ZERO luck. Now I find a guy with a NOS set of them. I have no reference to price since I haven't seen another set for sale.

What do they usually sell for?

"They're worth what you're willing to pay." is not the answer I'm looking for. I don't want to buy this set and then find a set next week for half the price. I may be happy paying this price now, but don't want to feel screwed when I find another set for sale.

I'm in no hurry, but I don't want to miss a good deal or get screwed.

    Any help?

We paid $500+shipping from Canada for a pair last year. When they showed up, there was pitting on the block side that needs some attention. Seller said they "were like new" when we talked on phone, no pictures, he's an older guy and had several sets, 1 pair he said were N.O.S.. Called him on the pitting and he actually sent me back $100.

Cool. Looks like I'll wait for a better price. He wants $700 for early ones. They are NOS, but I could live with used to save a few hundred bucks.

    Thanks!

The earlier ones are much more plentiful(Ford)... the earlier Merc are not.

  7. I looked for about 10 years (not looking too hard mind you) before I found mine.

If you have your heart set on them you might want to pony up, the trees they grow on are pretty scarce.

  9. Hey Kirk,

Is it the early ones you want? Or the late ones?

Yeah, he just told me the has a dozen sets NOS in the original dealer boxes. $700 a pair. He's not hot to sell them and doesn't want to be bothered, but he has them.

Says he'll sell me all of them if I want them.

Geez, OK, I just got off the phone with the guy and I went from not being able to find one set to buying TEN NOS sets!

I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

I'll be selling them in the classifieds for $650 plus shipping. My wife's gonna kill me!

Soooo I may be missing something here but didnt the above posts say the early ones were only worth a few hundred? Sounds like you might have some trouble selling them for $650.

    Regardless, good luck

Correct, but these are NOS and I already have six HAMB guys interested in going in on the order with me. So hopefully the other three will sell (I'll try eBay). Plus I looked at what it would cost to fix a used set and, depending on the condition, I could be back close to the price of these NOS heads. Plus I still haven't seen a set for any price other than these.

I've bought three sets in two months. None of them were NOS. The cheapest set was 300.00 and the most expensive was 700.00. I'll take two NOS sets today at 650.00 a set. These are one of those things that if ya gotta have it, ya just gotta have it.

Why the interest in Canadian heads? Are they stock looking but aluminum?

Higher compression, unique look. Not just another finned or stock head.

  29. Canadian heads were also prone to warping.

This thread took an odd turn and now just smells like spam.

  30. Kirk,

I bought a pair of those heads from a guy in Alabama a while back for $180. Same condition and in FoMoCo boxes. Guy didn't exactly know what they were.
