Previous post was a link to a new ad with some early modifieds. Ran my 92 car last weekend, no leaks, bumps or bruises so it was successful. Should have been a 10 car field but the owners/drivers of 8 of them were going into, getting out of, or currently in the hospital.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my car the #98 and the story of my car and my father and all of the other owners is in this months Vintage Oval Racing Magazine. It was nicely written by Bill McPeek one of the owners.

  9. hmmmm quiet someone post a photo or two!!! lol My laptop will be back tomorrow, in the shop getting new hard drive. A few years old and lasted as long as it did! Not too much money to replace it either, which is great, they just had to transfer everything over from the old one before it was shot!

Here's a shot of mine that I posted over on the 3-wide site. This is the short-lived Cairo Speedway in the northern Catskils in NY. Jimmy Fugel after winning the sportsman feature late 1974. Fugel was an Accord Speedway regular back then. Love all the kids around the car and Fugel waving to someone to the left in the crowd.

This week I got a frame for my late 30's chevy body.

The frame is an early Troyer. The dilemma we have is proportioning it all. In order to make getting in and out possible(I am not a small fella), and engine servicing possible , we have to place the body far back on the car. Does anyone have pics of a car with similar proportions that we could be inspired by for the rear end?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm thinking you either need to make that body a coach, or a 3 window coupe to fit right on that frame. The roof line on the b coupe is just too long to match up with the rear axle placement. Maybe that's just me though. Gene

Open up the 1/4 window to the door opening and move the body forward, like removing the b-pillar on a coach.

  25. here's my old 36 chevy mod. I think this is what BKHRS was talking about. Also the body was narrowed about 6 inches
On a side note, I ran this car at the 5/8 mi. track in Granby. Nice place, but the pace car kinda took a beating.

  26. Agreed.

Cut the cowl out, slide the body forward. I'd hate to cut out the B-pillar.

Big coupes don't work well on a later style DIRT mod chassis and coaches don't do much better.

Best deal I've seen is a humpback 4-door. Has a short rear quarter window. Cut out the entire B-pillar and shorten the front half of the body to your length.

OR, use what's in the following pics, a PT Cruiser body. Our most recent Southern brainstorm. Put a B-pillar in where ya' want or none at all. This is on an Olsen DIRT mod chassis. No Bondo used in the build. All steel, the real deal:

WOW, this pic brings back memories.

"The Shoe" at Syracuse in a Joe Letto car. I'm pretty sure this is the one they pulled outa' the junk pile and pieced together. Pretty sure Kenny led the Syracuse race for a few laps in this roach. If I remember, I think he said he saw the right front coil over bracket coming loose during the race, but kept right on going!!!

    This is gonna be intersting.
I'd hate to see you have to chop up the early Chevy profile too much.
Can the body be moved a little forward and down a bit?
Are you hoping to keep the "Vee" in the cowl?
I'd like to see the hood "Vee" match the cowl, is that what you are thinking?

This is Skip Sauer from Norwalk CT. He moved onto my street when I was small. My mind exploded I was so happy. I used to get up to watch them load up on Sat's or on Sun's washing it down.
