I have put a new 350 blower motor in my 32 Ford. 350 tranny is out getting rebuild right now. The shop does NOT paint them. What color are most painting their tranny? The only 2 colors I can think are Grey or silver? Appreciate your feedback. Thanks,
mt tranny guy had mine beadblasted and i just left it that way.you could paint it the same color as motor or whatever.
I usually paint an automatic the same color as the engine. If I want it to look like a factory aluminum finish, I use the cast aluminum detail paint in the spray cans. I know this is not an automatic but you get the idea.
Not so traditional, but I used some spray bomb Duplicolor engine paint in their cast iron color. I cleaned the parts well first. The paint went on great, covered well and folks like it. I used it on the tranny, throttle body, blower and intake parts. The block is a Poncho repro color and the valve covers got a dose of wrinkle black after we got done welding on them. I don't think Duplicolor makes it in cast aluminum, but that would have been a good choice, too. I like a color contrasting the body or frame - if painted the same color as the car looks street-rody to me. A word of caution, you can mess it up. A buddy just painted a tranny with a very shiny silver paint and it looks like a load of crap - like a large chrome turd. Gary
BLACK ! It is a well known FACT that BLACK disapates HEAT better than most any other color. Plus it goes with my chassis
I've never painted one either. Just scraped the crud off it and threw it in. Aamco used to paint theirs dark blue, other shops I've seen paint them silver or gold. Bob
