Our club had the chance to visit a private dirt track a couple of hours north of Auckland at the weekend, so a bunch of us got together and headed up there. First stop was the Waipu pub for a pizza and a beer to break the journey. Our destination was a bit off the beaten track, so there were some cool winding roads to go over, plus a bit of gravel at the end. We got there and were met by some Kurbside rodders from further up north who had come down for the afternoon, which was cool. After we got settled in, it was time for some fun on the track. It is a small track, but very smooth and in a great location. The track was watered to keep the speeds down and enjoyment up! There were a coupe of spins, but no harm done. Thanks to Don and family for the great hospitality and a really fun weekend, Dave for organising it and Firefly for the great pics!
Man that looks like it was a blast !! Hate to tell you cats this but when you where in the Pizza Barn somebody switched your steering wheels to the other side LOL !!! >>>>.
Looks like a real blast, and great to see guys out having fun in their rods. The whole dirt track thing seems to be gaining a bit of momentum, this is the third one i know of this summer!
Yep, great weekend, awesome weather, location and company. Thanks to all who were there. Can't wait till next time
Your rides are right hand drive and you drive on the left side of the road, shouldn't you be going around the track the other way? lol. Thanks for the great pics, looks like alot of fun.
I don't know about anyone else, but I ran that way around the track so I wouldn't lose any gas out the gas filler!
Yeah, there is was video but I haven't seen it yet. It is on tape, but a friend is looking at converting it so I will post some on you-tube if that happens.
I think you guys have too much fun! But then again you share the evidence pictures with us, so that makes it even better, thanks.
Not sure how I missed this tread earlier but thought i would add this link because it is such a special place, check it out...... NZ Trip....Visit Don Hornell's little slice of old Ford Heaven
The hot rods parked in front of the sign on the building "THE BEST OF OLD TIME QUALITY" kinda' give it new meaning. Thanks for the pix.
