Who did Kevin idolize with the red white and blue numbers?

Later built a vega with two bars sticking up in the front just like Charlie J's as well

Hmmmm From the looks of the top of a building behind the turn in the background and the inside pit wall this may not be Pocono. Almost looks like Trenton but I don't think it is.

Couldn't get this to print (maybe Pete can), but if you click on the link you will see a photo that is marked Charlie Jarzombek at New Smyrna. He is supposedly in Richie Evans' car. An unusual shot if it is indeed him. The driver definitely looks too big to be Richie. Anyone with any info on this photo?

I'm pretty sure you are correct about it being Trenton. It's a very large, high banked track in this photo and that really limits the possibilities.
Take a look at this video (esp around the 1:38min mark) and I think you'll lose your doubts.:D

I was with Ronkonkoma, NY's Johhny Mann today and the subject of Larry Mendelsohn as a race driver came up (now this picture too).

Johnny Mann said .... 'Larry drove a stock car only twice, both times at Dexter Park (NY). Larry flipped BOTH times!! That seemingly got Larry thinking that there had to be a better way to be involved in auto racing AND to make money at it. Larry soon turned to promotion, not only Islip (NY), but a number of tracks.'

For those of you that don't know Johnny Mann, he started in stock cars .. eventually became a GRRRRREAT midget driver (some time in sprint cars too). Today he says that he don't know how old he is, but that he's a "YOUNG" 83.

He still straps into a midget at Old Timers / Vintage events, such as the annual three day extravaganza at the Loudon, NH mile, and shows everyone how to get around F A S T !!!!

The wood inner pit wall, with the (water) pipe on top is exactly what I remember being at Trenton (NJ).

From the pits / infield I saw MANY GRRRRREAT midget, sprint car, Indy car and modified races there.

Even though in the end it was pretty run down, showing it's age in many ways and in need of a LOT of EXPENSIVE updating .... I REALLY MISS THAT PLACE!!

Other than his family built & maintained cars .. for safety reasons .. there weren't many cars that Charlie would climb into and race .. but I feel confident that Richie's would have been one.

If this old & feeble brain remembers, next time I see Ricky Jarzombek or Harold Seaman I'll ask.

Great shot of Kenny Wismer. I have to show it to my dad. He was on kenny's grew. I think the garage were they worked on the car is still standing but the time I was by it, it was in rough shape. I will have to get a picture of it.

That's a shame. I went to school with his kids. If I recall his daughter worked at a bakery in Brentwood. Thanks for the reply.

Dick Tobias drove this car to 5 straight wins at Reading in June of '65. He also had weekend sweeps at Hatfield and Nazareth that month.
