  4. If you ever see this car at a cacklefest, you will never forget it. Literally 3 to 4 feet of blue/white nitro flames shooting skyward. Awesome!!!

Good Morning & what a fine day its going today, near 80's in York, PA.

NANOOK was my favorite Fuel Altered without a doubt, even to this day.

Does anyone have any photos of NANOOK when it was Olds Powered?

    Thanks,

    Plum

Plum, that's one of the few pics I've seen that Willy's left hand wasn't holding onto the "door." But it still doesn't appear as he has it on the steering wheel! Great pics, and a good morning too. Thanks for posting.

I can't rember. I know the photo was from the Winternationals that they won but I don't even rember the year.

Looking at the photo I was wondering what the little kids are doing today.

Thats it for the Altereds. I have more but the slide part of my scanner isn't working. Scans everything else but when I try to scan it does nothing.

I may have to take it off & re-install it.

What can be said about the Hot Tuna car, what a beautiful car that was.

I can here Larry Sutton saying to himself, what up with guy with that crazy hat.

My old man toured with Clayton and did alot of the crew work on the car the same time as all of these new dimension pictures...before he went on to drive Jim and Alison's car...Hell when my old man wrecked our Hilton family fuel car he was wearin Clayton's old suit and Austin Myers's helmet!

He was out at Ontario with him with that picture posted of the front end up straight GETTING IT...That was a beautiful Billy Stebbins car...Harris was a hardcore sonbitch...wrecked twice, broke his arms all up and got run over by Charlie Moulder in the HopnGator helpin him back up from a burnout...Twoards the end there he was working with Rich Holcomb and then Romine....He got killed piloting his own private plane to go see his daughter...Always one of my favorites..

Someone mentioned Willie Borsch and his driving, a awsome sight at times. At about the 1969 U.S. nats. I watched Willie run S. Matsurbara in the Mondello Fiat. At the half way mark they were side by side, problem was Willies front wheels were still being carried at 150 mph from the start. He had to back out of it and the Fiat won. A helliva run any way you look at it. Still makes the hair stand on my arms and back when I think about it. Them were the days. Mac

(Above) So you still think that Don Garlits invented the rear-engine dragster, do ya? (Below) Donnie and Gene Bowman's flathead-powered Vineland Villain wasn't pretty, but it sure looked crude. Back then, functionality trumped almost everything. Note the Vet with the black wall tire in front.

Again, it's the people who make this shot. The clown, second from left, doing his "Take the picture already" pose and the other guy still slipping on (or off?) his coat, who's clearly not ready for the shot. And that dragster? Not much traction in those rear meats.

This is a great shot, too, taken from the cockpit of one of Scotty Fenn's legendary Chassis Research chassis that revolutionized the sport. I took some Photoshop liberties with the original to blur the background as the El Camino tow vehicle was a distraction. Love that steering wheel and big ol' brake handle. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I do believe this is John Morton in what would later be known as the Surfers TF car. Note the springer front end. I don't think Sorokin drove this car until after the chassis was updated by RCS.
