Williamsons just finished a conversion for me last week. Ron(?) said they have been having some "family issues" and are a little backed up. Transmitter finally arrived..works cool with HEI.

so, if I test mine out according to the markings on the back of yours. I hook up the left pole to power, the right pole to the pos. side of the coil?? obviously the upper right goes to ground...

The "dist." post should be wired to the negative side of the coil on a non-transmitter (1 piece) tach.

I picked up an early Sun Tach catalog at the swap meet a while back. Here's some factory wiring diagrams that may help:

Here's the basic diagram for the tachs that use a remote transmitter box, typically the EB-9A (8cyl. 12V). Check LORYDER's first post for detailed instructions:

well, I decided to chance the 6v verses 12v dilemma on my unmarked one piece tach. hooked it up to the flathead in my 28 roadster and viola! it worked. 12v v8 one piece sun tach! SCORE! idle at 500rpm with a swing up to 3k on a little revving. It's an 8k rpm tach so it's WAY to high for the flathead but it should be perfect for the 283 in my 32!

thanks for the help guys! oh, on another note I'm planning on running an MSD box with my mallory double life dizzy on my 283. No issues running this setup with this tach correct?? Its only if you plan to run an electronic dizzy do you have issues??

MSD used to have a disclaimer with their 6A boxes that some tachs might not work right with them. I seem to remember reading that damage might occur to the tach if hooked up the conventional way to the coil, but its been a while ago.
There is a male spade connector on some (if not all) of the 6 series boxes to hook up your tach trigger wire (the one that normally goes to the - side of the coil).
I used this method on the factory tach in my '68 Camaro and it worked well.

I was wondering the same thing about the RM12R Mercury cell battery. Find a couple references to them , but that's about it.
What I came up with for a suitable replacement is the Duracell PC12A. http://www.batteriesandbutter.com/M...Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PC12A&Category_Code=
Not 100% is that's what folks are usin. Dont really need it now since I put a Pertronix in my '56 GMC 270 (runs SO much better now!), need to have my box converted to use that signal.

Hi, I'm new to this forum but looks like a bunch of car guys, so I'm good with that. Now for my ?, I have a 10k sun half face old tach with a green half circle under the numbers. The model # is RE-108 . This was installed in a 66 fairlane when the car was pretty new and remained on the columm up till about 3 months ago. there is no red-line setting provisions on it. Any info would be helpful. Thanks, and keep on hot-roddin, Charlie

Does anyone have a factory screw for a sun transmitter?? Mine only came with 3 out of 4 tab screws when I bought it and the screws they sell at the hardware stores dont look the same. Thanks

I bought a sender for a magneto that was done by Williamson and a 7G tach it works great. We bought another one at a swap meet set it to them and had them put a new face on the tach head that goes to 8.5G. it looks perfect they do good work and very helpful on the phone. This thread is also very helpful and informative.

The Sun Super Tack ll P/N CP7901 which does not utilize a transmitter, has a switch that you set for 4-6-8 cylinders.
