Nothing quite as exhilarating as tearin into a new project.

Don't worry, You will have plenty of time to work on your car!

    '59 Buick taillights?

I lowered mine 2" by cutting a coil out of the front and blocks in the back. It should sit right once I get it together. I am considering air ride myself. Let me know what you need and I will see if it is still there. This is my car. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3091676

I like the bagging idea. Maybe a couple of daytons, lambo doors, blacklight under the car.......just kidding. Maybe shave them door handles.

Hit the swapmeet today, not a bad day... grabbed some bellflowers for my Galaxie and some heat resistance material for the floor.... 12 y/o daughter offered to clean, prep and lay the material down... that's my girl... no steelies to be found and whitewalls were very few...

Got home, redid the brakes again (the right way)... working beautiful..

Tomorrow clean and prep the floor... any suggestions on a glue to use?

Then a trip to the junkyard for some steelies, buddy has some pinners so i am gonna run them for now.. After that check the ****** and runn it through the gears..

    Hope all goes well....

Pinner whites look good, and you can find steels easy and for cheap,as long as they are 5x4.5 lug pattern.

Here's mine on real Astro's(14's which are stock size) and pinners:

Hooligan63.....Nice stance on your ride, obviously that is on air ride, correct?

I have and old cloth covered rubber that surrounds the doors and tucks under the door sills, is this just an old weather stripping? should I keep the same style or is there an upgrade?

also any suggestions on an adhesive for the floor and mohair?

Yeah,my Galaxie is on air. No notch needed to get that stance either. As for the cloth covered rubber, that is windlacing. You can order that stuff through a few outlets.

Here's your three best choices for parts for your Galaxie:

Windlace, thank you Hooligan63.... thanks for the sites.... do you guys think going with the push on windlace instead of the cloth style takes away from the look of the car... again it is not going to be for show. Just something to get me around town and hit a few shows, but wanna look kool doing it...

    thanks

It doesn't matter unless you are going for a concourse quality restoration.

    nice Galaxie and cool kids....

if you still have trouble with the fuel delivery, replace the line from the sending unit to the hard line on the body. also; pull the sending unit and see if the primary pickup filter is ****. anytime they've sat for an appreciable length of time they usually varnish up and are ****.

i saw a tech thread on making your own windlace with foam "rope" and upholstery vinyl... easy to do your own contrasting colors that way.

and THANKS for being able to do today what i couldn't resist 15 years ago. i stripped a perfectly good running '63 500 4dr for parts to complete my sportsroof. they call me ... "dumb***"... sometimes.

your lucky with your son and a screw driver. Mine started with wire cutters and a weekend head start. He was allot smaller back then and fit into cramped spaces.

62rebel..... thanks on the advice on the windlace, will do a search for that.. ad it was the pickup tube... had no screen/filter on it. Tube was so crusted I had to drill it out...

screwball.... that is funny but then again not ... kids will be kids i guess....

prettymuch got nothing done on the car yesterday,, to busy driving around looking for steelies and tires....

My buddy is running tires for a trailer on his truck, 205/70/15s... they look good with port-o-walls... but how safe are they.. ever heard of anybody doing this??????

Thats not good. Trailer tires are not built the same way. I have had more trailer tires let go than I have truck tires.

So making some progress on the ride... found the windlace thread, seems pretty easy so going to go for it..

Found a couple set of tires and rims in my area, just waiting for replies on them...

Carb to be rebuilt hopefully by end of this week...
going to remove the dash and back speaker panel to prep for mohair....
remove surge tank and a little bit of soldering needed.....
some interior pieces to go to powdercoating.....
put on the new steering wheel....
start removing molding for body prep...

Still up in the air about a color on this ride.. interior is going to be mainly white... wanted to keep it dark like the original color, but I am really fond of green or orange....

    few more pics for you

    Thanks

Got all the interior trim pieces off for powdercoating.. with the help of my boy...

steering wheel removed new one on......

and removed back speaker panel to use as a template....

after removing the dash I noticed how nice it looked ... was thinking about leaving it that way, just flaked to match the roof, all i gotta do is just cover the speaker hole...

anybody else out there have a naked dash?

Leave the trim. You gotta be carefull when modifying a multi door. In my reality tunnel, body mods, shaved trim, lake pipes, flame jobs, etc, all seem out of place and a little sad. Slam it, Supremes w/ thin whitewalls, indian blanket seat covers, and you are good to go. (just another opinion).

Yeah the trim is definately staying... handles are going though, i do like em shaved.. going with the bellflowers ...

right now priced out interior... holy moley!! guess I will just go with a new carpet kit and mohair the headliner.. do have plenty of mexican blankets for now... this is mainly a kid hauler so safety is the biggest priority.... I have four other projects on the burner also...

did find some 205/70/15s with thin whites and smoothies... also found 205/75/14s with thin whites and smoothies also,.... both the same price one is a little farther to drive than the other..... decisions.. decisions... any suggestions between the two?

    thanks

I may be coming from left field, but with the chrome wheels and a resonably stock stance, my thought is a wood front bumper and a roof rack!

-Hear me out before you judge:

Push car that can cruise and pull a trailer....

    Second thought:

Or, check out my old 60 done in 2001 found in my album. Lancers, lowered, pinstripe whites, spot lamps, mild shaving. Galaxies have fabulous lines that can really be accentuated. (Kirk's starliner is *****in)

J-Lopy Kid, your 60 was a bad ride. Scallops have always been there in the back of my mind.... the spots are kool, w/ my budget I can probably only run dummy's. Your ride is definately kooler than what I drove in school....

    Thanks for the advise..

Nice to track your '62 make-over!
If you run the smooties, the tall bullit centercaps really look good...
