Understand we will not be able to park on the east side of track unless we are running, But we will be part of the pit crew for two cars which are resistered. Would we still have to park on the west side? i

and I would think no. What's going to stop all the other folks that drove their cl***ic cars but are not racing from hooking up with someone that's racing and saying their on the "pit crew". From what I understand it's race cars only in the pits and their tow vehicles, but I could be wrong....there's always a first.;):D

I'd like to see the pit side get back to how it looked in 2003 & 2004.

Yep, what Denise said. Last year was just nuts. Came back to my pit spot after a run and found a golf cart in my spot. I shoved it behind the porto johns. ;-)

There were a couple of power parking street rod types beside me who were saying they were there to help somebody but they pretty much stuck to their lawn chairs by their cars for most of the day.

Driving through the pit area was another adventure. But you guys know that... you were there too.

Just two years ago, all Hotrods & Kustoms, even Street Rods, were welcome to park in pits and run if they wanted to. Now after last year's zoo, only race ready Hotrods are welcome in the pits?? That's fine...but the HAMB Drags has transformed into just another old time drag event. Again..That's fine but I won't be being either my '40 Ford or my '56 Plymouth.

No, cars that are registered to race will be the ones in the pits..... hot rod, customs, rails, whatever, register to race and you can park, drive, whatever in the pits.

There will be a whole seperate section for people that drive their hot rod and customs and aren't pre-registered to race.

Not really, even if it's an old car a person won't be able to park in the pits unless they are pre-registered to race.

Of course this is all just my opinion from how I understand the situation is going to be this year.;)

Well then you should have answered the question..
Would we still have to park on the west side?

OK, the thing I don't understand is why you would take you car and not register, and not make at least one p*** down the track... 17's are fun

Yes, I guess he could park on the west side BUT there is going to be an area on the southside where hot rods and customs can park that aren't racing, kinda like a show and shine area.

I drove Big Olds there last year and did not make a p*** down the track. It was not important enough to wait in those long lines for a turn. I prefered to spend my time socializing, checking out all the other cars there, watching the racing, visiting the vendors, you get the picture. I did register this year in hopes that the lines to race will be alittle more manageable. If so, I'll run down the track a time or two. If the lines are too long, I'll p***.

I'm guessing that's where all the trailers were last year... that'll be very cool.

Only registered cars will be able to park on the pit side. Drag cars that require a trailer will be able to have a tow car with them.

So there is gonna be a "show" area where the swap was last year? Will the swap still be there? Either way, I can't wait. I seriously believe that opportunities to go to shows like the HAMB Drags are what's keeping me from getting a steady job.:D

I don't think there will be a show area... Just a pit side and a spectator side.

If the gals have a social hour again this year, and she comes away from that in the same frame of mind as the last time, she might just trrn that feather duster loose on you! ;)

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :D

Vic and I discussed registering, just so we could park on the pit side. We aren't intending to race the Caddy.
We decided that if we were to register, we would knock someone out of a spot that really wanted to race and that wouldn't be cool.

We normally register, in order to to support the HAMB Drags, but now that the field is filling up, we feel we can show our support in other ways, and not take a slot away from a compe***ive racer.

What if, and I'm just spitballing, there were a "reserved" parking area where the old cars can park and just pay 2 or 3 bucks per spot toward supporting the HAMB? I know there isn't much room on the spectator side to be dividing up parking, and you don't want it to turn into a "show" of sorts but like I said, just spitballing.

Also, Ryan, could you somehow engineer a p*** to jump to the front of the line for barbeque? It was enormous!:)

I would like to see the pit gates open earlier than the spectator gates, it would help with the back up on the freeway and help those trying to maneuver trucks and trailers around the pits. It would also allow racers to get stuff unloaded and prepped before the racing starts. Even the guys that drive their race car to the track are swapping slicks etc.

Taking the truck and trailer down the corn field dirt road last year was pretty scary.

Hopefully we can do tech at the hotel again, that was an awesome idea.
