Its an understatement to say that I am not the best at understanding the electrical systems of cars. I can do body work, I can work engines, but I need some help on the electrical issues I may run into. So here is the deal. <O</OI have a 1963 Cadillac Coupe Deville <O</O I run air ride with two 480c compressors, a custom interior with custom lighting (no not neon) and I have door poppers and a trunk popper. <O</O I am looking to install a stereo as well, but I am afraid that I am overloading the electircal capability for the car.<O</O <O</O I am currently running a optima battery and stock alternator. Is there something I can do to boost the electrical output capability of the car? Another alternator, some aftermarket goodies, plutonium?<O</O <O</O I would really appreciate constructive ideas from anyone whom has faced and overcome this same issue. <O</O <O</O THANKS!<O</O
Get a good aftermarket alternator. Look at Summit and find a solid 200 amp. I ran 2 optimas and a HUGE alternator in my Lincoln with TONS of audio/video equipment in it when I used to do installs. I always recommend a bigger alternator. Also, run a capacitor wherever possible.
My computer does not show them on the post. I did not add any of them by choice. Thanks for the heads up.
Put in a larger alternator and run relays to your door poppers and higher amperage stuff, I am as well no electrical genius but by posting this am hoping someone can elaborate.
