    I believe you.
But I don't believe the story you were told.

    Nice story though....
But I hope you don't believe it.

By the way there is an island in the river near me with a house and barn on it -- used to be a road to there but the road was washed away in a storm in 1947. The property has been abandoned for over 60 years. It was owned by a car collector. The barn is full of 1931 Ford coupes, maybe 17 of them. The estate would sell them for $100 each. Wish I could get them out but the town will not allow me to build a bridge.......

The helicopter idea congers memories of an Icehouse beer promotion gone
bad next door. The idea was to drop the promotional AD Chevy truck
from a helicopter(with parachutes) and make the award based on which
100'x100' grid laid out on the ground that it landed on. Truck was hauled up to altitude on a large pallet and let go. The first huge canopy didn't open till
about halfway down and the second equally large canopy didn't open till
right before impact. If my memory is correct it made a bounce and landed
on its side and may have been in a different square then. So, anybody
know where the the Icehouse truck is now?

Hey! That's my barn and my property! Your friend is scamming you. And, he better get the hell out of my barn and off my property! Damn claim jumpers!

By the way, getting my cars out of the barn and back to civilization will be easy. I'm digging a tunnel.

And, I've got pictures to prove that everything I'm saying is true.

I've been to that barn many years ago on a bear hunt, but could never tell the story as nobody would believe me. Be like claiming you saw Bigfoot. So now it comes out, I've been keeping this under my hat all these years. I'll sleep better tonight.

  8. i havent been defending the story, i wrote early on i hope he gets some publicity so it would eather prove or disprove so we would know either way, i said i dont know for sure.

What i AM defending is that these things happen, barn finds with lots of cars, and its super rare, but its happened before... and you have no clue if it did or didnt happen, the fact is it might, and thats what im sharing with you...

    >>>>>,Not sure I believe the Story or not ,,But,,i lived in Alaska from '63 to fall of '69 ,,got out of the Air Force up there in July of '65 ,,i went Moose huntin' all over the southern part of the State ,,Flew all over the State with a Bush Pilot named Joe Reddington Sr ,,,( the father/founder of the Ididarod Sled Dog Race) ,,,i've been to many old ghost towns that there weren't any roads too ,,only old rail road tracks ,,Google Chitina,Akaska,,,one of the Ghost Towns i went to ,,when the Copper and Silver Mines Played Out in the early 1900's,,the train made one last trip ,,and everyone left everything they couldn't carry ,,including old cars ,,some with rail road wheels ,,there was about 7 miles of road goung to a couple of small lakes ,,but not over the mountain to the main hi-way 33 miles away ,,,untill the owner of Wein Alaska Airlines bought the town from the State and put a road in ,in 1967 ,a buddy and i rode our motorcycles on that road when the bull dozers broke trhu the last mile ,,
there is lots of old homesteads ,,most abanded ,,up there ,,those old mining towns too ,,Google "Independence Gold Mine,Alaska " ,,we used to pan for gold in the streams leading away from that mine ,,,back when Gold was frozen at $35 an ounce ,,,all the Banks had Gold Scales on their counters ,,used to get a couple hundred bucks every so often ,,don't sound like much now ,,but when i only got $295 a month from the Air Force ,,it was a lot ,,
Alaska is a very neet place ,,,i drag raced at the old Polar Drag Strip from '64 to '69 , ,,now called www.alaskaracewaypark.com

I live in Alaska and...Wait a minute, let me get my chest waders on first cause it's gettin deep...Don't believe a word of it. First off it gets cold here, cold enough that most of the rivers get pretty hard. I've seen full size tractors sledded out to remote areas by snowmachine(that's snowmobile to some) so I can't believe you couldn't get an expensive car out. Not to mention I have a job that requires me to fly by helicopter to some real remote areas, and the equipment I work on was flown out there as well. When your talking 32 Fords, it's not that expensive.

  19. If you raced at Polar in the 60s when it was owned by the Nelsons, I probably know you. What did you race? I was racing a Orange 60 Vette with a loaded up 427 with Cal Hydro in A/MSP. Towed it with an Orange 64 Stingray with a loaded up 427/4spd. Later raced 65 Dodge SSB/A factory Race Hemi Dodge, still have it here in AZ. I've been AK the last 45 years. Would like to see that barn, must be a hell of strong barn to hold up under the winter snow loads I have seen in AK. Amazing how all of those cars would have got there since the the only road to Territory of Alaska was the ALCAN which wasnt open to public traffic till summer 47 and it was just a muddy, primitive gravel/dirt road and started at Dawson Creek YT and ended in Fairbanks. Lots of Cats to pull thru the mud when you got stuck. Much improved now. The only other way to get vehicles to AK was by Ship, only veh that came by air were Military/ Govt and very few of those. My first trip over it in 64, over 1300 miles of gravel then, have driven it 41 times to date. Been a Pilot in AK since 64, flew fixed and Rotary for the Army and the Guard for 26 years, and for air Taxi operations, have been to just about every village in AK at one time or another. Took the 1st UH-1 helicopter to Nome, 1st to Kotzbue and 1st to Nome for the Army Guard when they stationed them at those locations. Still fly Float Planes for Fishing/Hunting Lodges.
