Two nice little roadsters there. Look at the exhaust outlets on the dark car. Wonder if the dumbass realises how close he was to the pearly gates.
i cropped and enhanced the picture with the "head" it's probably sheet metal but thats creepy, here's the same image from the flipped picture, I don't think it's flipped, just from the opposite angle, this is from right behind the skinny guys leg i'm not into spooks and stuff but this has me creeped out now. especially after everything that happened to anyone who got a part off that car. someone has to have added that in,
This guy was James Deans mechanic, Rolf W. as someone else mentioned on this thread. He was thrown from the car, got a broken jaw. Not sheet metal.
Here is an accident reconstruction report: http://crashteams.com/Services/Special-Services/James-Dean/James-Dean-Accident-Reconstruction.html The visible head is the mechanic, he lay on the side of the car where he was thrown. James Dean remained in the car. The car that hit him was a 50 Ford Business Coupe:
here are a couple of old pics , my dad was in the state police in the early 50's , these are of accident investigations . my dad is all 3 . i have more someplace . we lost him at a young age (1969) , i came across these looking through my mothers stuff (we lost her in 2000) , these bring back a lot of memories . he was proud of his days in the state police , he later went on to become the chief of police in the small town we lived in . mopar210
James Dean Memorial Intersection today. James Dean's car would have been approximately in the same place as the school bus. Report said he was going north to Salinas but the school bus is actually traveling west on hwy 42 toward Paso Robles.
Here's some of my artwork...hope you guys dig it! James Dean Crash 57 Nomad crash 36 Hot Rod Pileup and the beginning of my new painting "Compact Cadillac"
Thanks guys! wrecked hot rods are fun if you don't take it too seriously... I love bent metal for some reason.... hardcore is good!
I read once that when Deans Porsche was being unloaded at the garage, that it fell off the trailer and broke a guys leg. Then a dentist in L.A. bought the engine for his race car and was killed when he crashed it at an event with the Dean engine in it.
gasser300 - your dead on, also a guy tried to steal the steering wheel from Barris' shop, and slit his arm open on the jagged aluminum.. crazy stuff
