I tried a search but I'm looking for a pic of them next to each other. I know what both look like but I'm wondering how much of a drop it gives you over a stock Model A axle. Thanks guys.
I used a regular 32 axle on my roadster with a reversed eye spring.. by using 16 inch wheels...I got close to four inches...and still run mechanical brakes...thanks to Elrod...d32
it won't give you drop unless it's a dropped axle. if you want to maintain mechanical brakes with a dropped axle, you'll also want to use 1932 perches. if using model A or 1932 perches with a new reversed eye spring you'll need specific shackles because the new springs are 3/4" eyelet and the stock perches are 11/16". you can always get a stock spring reversed as well. additionally, the 1932 heavy beam has a 2" perch boss while the model A is 2-1/4". this means that you'll either have to take a set of 1932 bones and shorten them to the correct length or make a bushing to make up the 1/4" difference between the heavy beam and the model A wishbones. hope that helps! -rob
^^^ditto^^ he's exactly right....but it will work... look at my 31 roadster and you don't have to use a new spring..just reverse the eye and you eliminate a step... d32
Replacing a model a front axle with a '32 or the thinner-looking '33-'36 will lower the ride height approximately 1 inch all other components remaining the same. As was said, Model A axle is 1/4" thicker at the spring perces so will reqire a spacer of the same thickness to make up the difference when installing Model A wishbone on a '32-'36 axle.
My bad. I have never actually compared the two for a precise measurement. My approximate 1" was based second hand info that was evidently incorrect.
