A U.S. Post Office mail delivery truck, loaded with holiday mail at Christmas time in 1926 in Portland.

That's first thing I thought of when I saw this picture. The laid back things that what look to be major racing teams back in the day did to carry their cars to and from the track. But then maybe that is just the way they did back then. Shoot look at the number of us that drove cars to the track, raced them, then drove them home. Not much of that any more.

 

"An' it'll be fine 'cause I'll stuff these here shop rags around the chain. What could go wrong?"

Looks like a customer delivery going on rather than an on-the-way-to-the-race event.

From Google maps, the building is still there. The Standard station is long gone.



A side note, that is the intersection in the Star Trek Movie where
Kirk travels back in time to San Francisco.
