Thanks, Rik. Looks like only four of their cars got any ink; I wonder if there were more? Looks like they were pretty skilled, looking at three channeled convertibles and the beautiful peaked hood on that '40 coupe.

Oregon customs in the early 1940's....

 

Cool pics Rik. I always get a laugh when I see all these guys in the 40's and 50's wearing white pants, that always seem dirty, when working on cars.

 

I sure hope not! That was one ugly car. Back to the top for a great thread.

As always,a great thread!.Do any of you guys ever wonder about what happened to the cars?.I'm sure we all do.What would be interesting though,what about the car owners themselves?.Wonder if they ever built anything else?.

 

This Chev belonged to Bill Moore in WLA. He won the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild, went to Art Center, and had a career as a freelance industrial designer. He moved to Reno years ago to work on Paxton's steam car project, and later retired. He paints western art now (or recently, anyway).

Here's a rare 1936 Club Cabriolet that I just got. It is a real early custom-repainted in 1940, 1940 engine and rare Pines accessory front grill/hood treatment. 32K mile original car from Texas. There is not a pimple, ding, dent or rust pit anywhere on the body-still has the original H. Ford upholstery and trunk liner. I'll be bringing it to Billet Proof Detroit this weekend. Oh, its for sale! See the classifieds!

 

Did you just buy this one at the auction? I saw it in the catalog. Looks like a nice one.

Some early Hot Rod and Custom Car publications... All scans are from old ebay auctions and not the best quality... if you have one of these books and have a scanner... some better scans would be more than welcome...
