looks like a new towing rig!!!

  3. Yup, these things kind just kinda sneak up on ya. Agree that the fire pole would be a nice addition, but I'm sure your wife would take exception.

    Excellent score!

I bought a fire truck a couple of years ago. 6,000 original miles, certified by the NJ township where I got it. Filled the tank and started driving it back to Maryland. School was getting out and at every intersection the crossing-guard would stop traffic and wave me through ! Got to the end of the Jersey Turnpike and the toll booth collector waved me through! Same at the rest of the Rt95 toll booths.....then it dawned on me...I`m in driving a FIRE TRUCK !

I'd like to be there the first time you drive it around the block.:D Sitting so far ahead of the wheels can take some getting used to. That is my most favorite fire truck design.

I'd paint it the company colors and letter it and drive it in the local parade. Along with hauling what ever in the back.

  8. It looks like everyone wants you to make it a hauler, I say keep it a fire truck, take it to the car shows get a bunch of girls to wear white T-shirts and spray them down, sounds like good clean fun to me... Other than that, good score

A reasonable highway gear set should be easy enough to find you would think. Then you'll have something dependable and usable.

...there might even be a two speed rear end available, to get going. I noticed it has Washington exempt plates, can you keep that registration?

I just about fell out of the chair laughing. funny ass stuff there ^ ^ ^

Cool truck, I agree with most of the other guys, make it a hot rod hauler. put your business name & colors on it & you can probably even write most of it off at tax time.

Better you than me. I saw that....and wondered why it was only 2k. Luckily, I don't have room for something like that or I'd be the one posting this thread.

I saw that at Goodguys Puyallup last year & on Craigslist. My wife was on board to buy it but lack of a parking spot kept us from trying to buy it!

I almost did that once. It was an 85-foot aerial ladder truck. A '50's vintage Crown tractor with a '47 LaFrance trailer. Required a tiller-man in the rear. Hall-Scott (Or was it Scott-Hall?) gas engine and 5-speed manual trans. And no top - A big roadster! It was a hoot to drive. When the department got rid of it, they couldn't find any takers. Could have gotten it really cheap. Didn't have any place to park it, so I passed it up.

I saw one of those online somehwere with a house built on the back. really cool.. back porch and everything. that's what I'd do, then go live out in the woods somewhere so people would stop buggin me.

  26. Shit! If my wife heard that . . . she might LET me buy one of these big bad boys!

  27. A guy who comes to a lot of the car shows in this area has a '52 Ford F7 pumper truck with the big Lincoln OHV engine, has an ice cream stand built onto the back of it, guy who built the ice cream stand was a master cabinetmaker, all solid oak and beautiful workmanship, looks like the truck was originally built that way.

In my case, you see an ad in the weekly paper for the local volunteer fire Dept selling a 51 Chev Fire truck on bids. With wife's full blessing, throw in a bid for $625 just for kicks.

I've had it for 7 years now. Only has 17,000 miles and purrs like a kitten.
