At a recent slot car show I picked these up:

They are sold as HO slot cars but they are closer to 1/64 scale (close to Hot Wheels size)

I wonder where they got the idea for the color schemes of the yellow and the white one?:) I will be looking decals to finish them properly.

They are made by Auto World

    http://www.autoworldslotcars.com/

As you will see they are coming out with a slot car drag strip set!!

I bought the Dodges from Jeff at Motor City Toyz:

    http://shop.motorcitytoyz.com/

When the drag strip sets come out, he will have them.

Hello everyone. I'm new to this thread but I've been over on the stock car part of the forum posting old Nascar pictures. I'm a big fan of the old Mopars and have lots of historic stuff though my pictures aren't near as nice as Casey Jone's or some of the other posters. My pictures were all taken with an old Brownie type camera which was all I could afford at the time. Lets start with this one since I didn't see anyone else post any pictures of Shirley Shahan's NHRA Winternationals winning car.

Picture taken at a championship points meet in Lodi, Calif., a few months after Shirley had won at the 1965 Winternationals.

The first "Melrose Missile", driven/tuned by Tommy Grove. This was the beginning of the Mopar revolution, at least on the upper West Coast. This car blew away every track record at HMB and Fremont by about .25 second. The record(s) had been held by Grove's 409 Chevy (partially seen here in it's later iteration.......as a tow car to get the Plymouth to the track).

Sorry SS63.........this is the only picture of the Milne Bros cars that I have. For the life of me, I can't even remember who was driving them that day....too long ago and I don't have that many notes. Too bad that I wasn't using color film. These two were a very pretty "Petty blue" color. These were Southern Calif based cars and I lived about 400 miles away in Northern Calif in those days (I do live in southern Calif now) so it was a rare treat to see them though they often were featured in the drag racing papers of those days.

The Melrose Missiles #IV, V,and VI were all '64's. The V was a "fastback" hardtop and the VI had a slightly altered wheelbase. I know the V and VI were Hemis but can't remember for sure about the IV shown here. Melrose Motors was a good sized dealership and was the performance HQ for Plymouths in the San Francisco-Oakland Bay area so they could get the latest (and sometimes rare) good stuff from the factory.

More pictures of Melrose Missiles to come, guys. I'm just an amateuer at this posting pictures stuff so I have to wait till my "assistant" has the time.

I spent many a happy hour at that track in the 60s. They used to advertise the big SS match races (the equivalent of a big Funny Car match race nowadays) on the Bay Area pop radio stations with the famous "Be There" spot commercials.

Is the dragstrip still there or did it succumb to development like so many other Calif racetracks did?

Had trouble navigating the site you posted but I'm not familiar with "myspace". Shame about Fremont. Lot's of history there. Last time I drove through that area I could see that it was getting all built up. Probably the noise brought a lot of complaints from the new developments.

Cool. Did they ever tell you who the driver had been?

I owned a white '63 Plym Fury hardtop for several years. I might have kept it had it had more than a 318 in it. I traded it in on a '68 Dodge Charger with a 440 motor.

Driver for Milne Bros in this 63 car was Bob Feuerhelm, he was the manager at Milne Bros Plymouth centre, old mates from speedway days of Jack and Cordy Milne.
Bob came to Australia when the car arrived Nov 64 to show the Aussies how to drive.

Here is a clip when it arrived on the dock in Sydney, Bob Feuerhelm is the tall guy.
