Trent, this is experience talking...get LilT a floating pole, and/or, tie it to his life jacket or beltloop.....

It's pretty devasting to a 3 year old to watch his favorite scooby doo pole sink into the lake.....mine threw his over the side of Grampa's boat while trolling, we never recovered it.......Of course, Gramdpa keeps spares availabe on his boat now....:D

This is so true. Lots of young guys around here buy these brand new big ass jacked up 4x4 pickups, and never use them for hauling anything or off the road use. They just polish them and drive like a-holes. Maybe it helps them to make up for other "small" things in their life...

That's awesome. I really didn't expect to see this at all. Your neighbor is much cooler than mine!

BTW Abomb - good advice on the floating pole.

He's probably had it since '66 and when he got home from the taking the stuff to the dump his wife says something similar to " best 4 grand we've ever spent".

I'd do lots more yard work or clean up if I got to drive that to the dump. I'd give it hell on the way back, that's for sure. Even with the trailer!

Reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad would take us on family vacations in Corvettes. By the time we had my folks, my brother and myself in the car, the luggage had to ride in a trailer...

Hmmm. I dumped 1500 gallons of number one diesel in Stockade lake in 1975. South Dakotas biggest oil spill up till that time.

  13. my buddy went to a salvage yard with his 33 ford sedan delivery with carpet in the back to pick up a rear axle they woud'nt put in finaly got some clean cardboard then put it in

50-60 years ago, people used to tow with their cars quite often. I remember see lots of cars, yes even vettes and mustangs and camaros with a trailer hitch out back. Old news, no big deal!

I've lost count of how many 63-73 'vette rear bumpers that I have rechromed that had extra holes drilled for trailor hitches. Shouldn't be all that surprising considering they need a trailor if you are going to haul anything substantial. Nowadays, everyone wants the holes filled to bring the car back to original.

I have a trailor hitch here at the shop designed specifically for the 63-67s (it says 63-67 Corvette right on it,) I don't know if it was a dealer option or aftermarket or what, but it is built very stout and was chromed originally. It matches up holes with the corresponding bumpers that have had hitch holes drilled; which seem to be always in the same location.

  17. Don't know about you, but I actually USE my F350 4x4 Crew Cab PowerStroke to haul stuff, tow stuff, AND use as a DD. I love that truck!:D

If that 'Vette and trailer were mine, I'd HAVE to put some fenders on that trailer!

Yep, grampa bought several of those....

Back on subject, when I was a kid the elementry school counselor / advisor drove a split window vette with a trailer hitch daily. I believe it was his only car, and he had owned it since new.

  20. Yeah, me too.....come on guys, its just a car.

  21. My '69 Custom S was ordered with a 400TH, for boat towing duty. The hitch is long gone
but I still have the tail light and brake wiring bundle. I think a nice Chris-Craft with a blown 454 would be a good thing behind the ol' red rag top.

That 'Vette should have a bumper sticker that reads,

" My other car is a Prius."

    or

"My other car is a 3500HD Dually."

  22. here's a couple pics of dads 57. he put he hitch on in the early 60's,he still has it, and still tows with it!

  26. So that's what happened to the 63-67 Corvette trailer hitch I sold on eBay a year or two back. I remember I said in the ad, for the guy who wants to have all the accessories, because who the hell is going to pull a trailer with his Corvette???

  27. we have a local town mayor down here who used to tow a small concrete mixer with his mayoral car. i think it was a mercedees.
caused a lot of reactions back then.
as for the vette, good to see it being used.
