Valvoline Racing Oil on sale now!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, May 19, 2010.

  1. If you're familiar with the evils of current oil on our old motors, you know that Racing, or off-road oils still have the "good" stuff still in it. Racing oil never seems to be offered on sale, BUT Autozone has it for HALF OFF til the end of the month. Also, if you ask for an Autozone card, you get 1 point for every $20 you spend before tax. After 5 points, you get $20 store credit. So, I've been buying my 6th case for $8.25:D. And yes, I know there's certain things in race oil that's supposedly not good for everyday use. But, I've been using it almost exclusively since the 70's with no issues. You may have to wait for a new shipment if you live between Simi Valley and Eagle Rock:D. Oh, they do have user friendly 20/50W

Yeah, this is a KILLER deal for good oil. It includes both the standard VR1 and synthetic VR1.

Saw the thread an hour or so ago, split out of work and hit up 3 autozones within a 10 mile radius. They are imposing a 12 quart per day limit, but of course each load goes towards the credits ($20 sale x 5 sales = $20 cash towards goods).

Autozone is 36 quarts lighter and I will hit them up again tomorrow!

Thanks for the heads up Groucho!

4.29 a quart is that right?

  7. That's their every day price around here. But, it's HALF that til the end of May. I got a hunch they're gonna discontinue the stuff. I mean, half off? Sounds more like a clearance sale to me. I got 18 cases.....and I'm not done yet

Thanks I use Valvoline exclusively in my non-HAMB compliant Pro-Street. I caught the sale last year but would have missed it if you had not posted this thread. Thanks!

Is it only for the 20/50? My buddy says the synthetic is 8 something a quart then discount. They only will let him get 1 case a day. i had him get the 20/50 for today. Thanks

It is for ALL of their "racing" oil in stock. Regular VR1 50wt and Regular 60wt and 20-50wt was all in stock at around 4.29 a quart (minus half). The synthetic was in stock too at 8.00 plus a quart (minus half).

The limit was printed as 12 a day. Well... I took that literally for that store. I bought 12 there and 12 more each at 2 more autozones within 5 miles either way. 36 total. I used my $20 credit on the last 12 and that load only cost me 7.75 or so...

So, for 36 quarts that should have cost $154.44...

My cost today was about $60 with sales tax..

    NICE!

And yes, I bought the 20-50wt non-synthetic which is about 1400 zinc.

  20. Thanks for the 411..........will hit the Tucson guys the next couple of days......

  21. I'm there! Probably be hard to find tomorrow.

cleaned out the local 'zone today. Carquest has no such sale on the stuff, and they have plenty of it in the Indy warehouse. Go figger.

Found another 12 quarts in the back room today at Autozone today. Unless they get another shipment in this county, they are pretty well cleaned out. Bahahahahaha!

THANKS!!! Groucho. Didn't know about this until I read your post. What a smokin' deal!

Just got home from my second trip out to the local Auto Zones. There's about 35 stores within 15 miles of my house.

Hit 5 stores this afternoon. Scored 3 cases plus 4 quarts. This evening I hit 4 stores and scored 3 more cases.

Also picked up a couple of FL-1A oil filters with each case. I got 6 cases of oil and 12 oil filters for about 200 bucks. Not to damn bad!

I been usin' this oil for about 40 years. Haven't found any thing better. I use it in everything, the daily, the hot rod, the bike, and the race car.

Don't know how much more I can justify buying. We'll see. Thanks again for the heads-up Groucho.

    Have A Great Day!!!

Picked me up a case yesterday! Great deal

  28. No problem. Go get as much as you can stand at that price. Me personally, have not seen HALF off motor oil before. Especially the brand I've been using for years. I got a hunch they're eliminating it from their inventory

O'Reilly has it on their website same as AZ at $4.29 qt. Not a sale price. Maybe they matched AZ? Is the regular price really $8.60 a qt?
