I thought it was about time I joined. I started Drag Racing in 1969 with this 1968 SS/FA I bought from Hubert Platt.

In 1970 I also bought my 1969 Mustang from Hubert Platt. It was just a shell with no drive train. In 1971 I pulled the drive train out of the 1968 and installed in the 1969 and went racing in SS/GA.

I stopped racing in Super Stock in 1975 and parked it until 1993 and started racing in Stock and brackets

I painted it in my shop in 2004 close to the way it was raced in the 70's.

    Rusty:

Welcome from the West Coast of Florida.

I think I saw your car a few weeks ago at a show in downtown Palm Harbor. You really have a great piece of history and the car really looked great.

How are you doing from North East Ms., I believe a friend of mine knew Hubert Platt? Did he have a brother as well? You may know my friend, Marion Fairchild? I may be off base but, I think he has spoken highly of Mr. Platt?

Yes, Mr. Fairchild mentioned them, now I remember. He said" Hubert was tough on Fords and his brother raced Chevy's. Mr. Fairchild raced a Coronet with a 426 hemi.. He raced that car for about 15 years. He closed his speed shop down in 1989, retired. He did all of his drag racing for 20 years himself, 20 years round track with other drivers. He is now 74 years old and still sharp as a tack. He is my mentor!!!!! I was wondering if you have heard of him,I think they raced against each other at one time or another, zrxlover? Let me know if you remember something?

I talked with Mr. Fairchild and he said he never raced against Mr.Hubert but, he raced against his brother Huston. He bought some frames and visited Mr. Hubert on several occasions. He last saw Mr. Hubert in Birmingham, Al. race against Mr. Petty and Mr. Hubert beat Petty. Petty was racing a fuel injected car and Mr. Hubert was naturally aspirated. Mr. Huberts' car had damage to the floor board trans. tunnel where his fly wheel came apart and cut his frame rail and brake lines as told by my friend. As stated before Mr. Fairchild speaks highly of Mr. Hubert. He asked me to ask you if Mr. Hubert is still with us? Looking forward to hearing from you! zrxlover:)
