I went up to Maxton for the first time on Saturday. I'm hooked for life. Now if I could actually participate and drive something I'd be on to something. Anyhow, just sitting back and watching those crazies try to outdo themselves is worth it's weight in gold. If you've never been, then by all means get your asses out to Maxton! It's like Bonneville only 1/20th the scale!

    Here some pics....

It's weird seeing the Bones cars with radials on. Almost like a pimple on a seductive lady. None the less rules are rules and I am more in favor for speed when it comes to land speed racing then I am to style. Their cars have more style then most know what to do with any how.

This roadster was perfect. Chevy powered and just the right stance. It was with the Bones crew even though it did not wear the trademark front suspension. I believe it was a Brookville body on a Gennie frame.

Then there was this "barn find" (haha) that was just absolutely bast with it's S.Co.T blown flathead fead by two 97's.

Thanks to ECTA for a great event, Rolling Bones (for the eye candy), and fellow Club members Dustin and Kenny for hanging out!

  14. Don't go to Maxton...I'm warnin'you....UNLESS...you're prepared to get bit hard by the LandSpeedRacin' bug..This was my 3rd trip and the hook got sunk a little further this time...I bet I built 20 cars in my mind on the trip home...I gotta do this!!!!
Gonna finish my current project and then sorta leaning towards a modified Roadster class car...
There were some killer cars and somewere really fast ...although that 272.372MPH blast by Bill Warner on his Hyabusa was an eye-opener

The next one is at the end of June then September I think. You definitely should be able to hit one of them. Greta event and let us know when you get here so we can meet up!

Definitely. Maybe even stroll down with the Bones guys next time they come. If you can't get to Bonneville or El Mirage then this is definitely a don't miss. Shit even if you can get to Bonneville I think you should come. It's that awesome!

Looks like it is using part of an airport. The tan 32 and all of the bones cars are spot on. I'll be at the June event. TP

I was there yesterday. This was one of my favorites, an all steel '53 Studebaker Coupe powered by a 392 Hemi. The owner was from Canada. This was my first trip and it reminded me of racing in the early days when I first started going to drag races. There were no 18 wheelers transports there. It was mostly low buck racing, but guys having a lot of fun. I'LL BE BACK!!!!!!

This is the guy with the big balls. Bill "272 mph" Warner. He ran 272.340 last month and 272.372 yesterday.

Wow, I can't believe I've been this close the whole time and never went. I had a blast! I wish I had something to run. Here are a few more pics, albeit not as good as yours, great job by the way. And I wish I'd met you, you even tagged me in one pick. The one wearing the Jalopy Journal shirt.

I love this car too. Exactly what I want to do except I only have a 354 and a 30 sedan:(.

The Rolling Bones do great work. One guy asked how they got the rust to shine so good. When I told him that they painted it that way he didn't believe it.

Roadster pulling a roadster! Awesome. Probably would have pushed it if it had framehorns.

This is the starting line of this unique course. You go about 500 feet and turn right and then haul ass. Some of the racers were going close to a 100 mph when they turned right. Most of you have heard of "Blackwater", right? I know, they changed their name. They have a training ground across the street. There are numerous "no trespassing" signs on their property and I did not see anyone violating. Smart people!!!
